Kwame's Text Messages.

Yep, pretty much confirms that he has been the crook all along as suspected. I think he is taking over the dirty reigns as past Detroit mayors have and taken it a step further to use his position of power. But hey, Detroit citizens chose him and now they have to see what they have created. They only have themselves to blame.

Detroit will NEVER have a honest mayor. Its not run by blacks......its run by Greeks, Italians.....and other Mafia groups. They have all the money, the pull the strings. Kwame' is just a yes man in a nice suit. Kinda like Hillary was in N.Y.

Yeah, apparently some 14,000 text messages.. who has the time for this crap!?!?!?

Excuse me? Keep your racists narrow minded comments to your self. Thi s has nothing to do with race and everything to do with corruption.

but mostly I take great exception to your racists crap about my Greek brothers.

No wonder Detroit has such a budget crunch...

And Mark... I think singling out Greeks is bigotry, not racism. Neither one is good.

Speaking of mafia... my brother told me stories from lawyer buddies of his about the Detroit mafia. I can't verify anything, but THEY took it's existence seriously. Whether they were Greek, Italian or Martian, I have no idea.

Yeeeah...but we're talking Detroit here, they'll never see it and never actually believe that they were wrong, because ignorance is bliss.

Many, if not most people in Detroit, tend to be biased unnecessarily in respect to politics. Much of this, IMO sadly enough does have a bit to do with race, but not entirely, moreover it's the city always buying "pretty words" and good looking young politicians.

As in, whereas many people are shallow when it comes to who to voting (i.e. people who vote for Obama because he's "good looking", people who vote for Hillary on the sheer fact that she's a woman, etc), in Detroit it seems to be an epidemic.

Heads in ass syndrome runs high through the city. I mean, think of is this way: they elected Coleman Young. That's pure ignorance right there, that guy was horrible and racist at the same time.

How Archer got in is a miracle. Too bad he gave up.

while this is a good discussion, it doesn't belong here - if you want to discuss/debate racism, start a new thread, in the mean time... :Poke

let's get back on topic, people...

I know this is horribly off topic... but all this talk about Kwame, really makes me want to go to the Zoo.....

I think it's because of the water tower....

**** Thread split. Look for the "racism" debate in a new thread here in this forum ***

This whole thing with Kwame is just bugging me.

Im kinda split between two sides here.

Yes, I dont think that he shouldnt have cheated on his wife and then denied it when there was plenty of evidence that he did. They didnt invent those messages.

Then again, his personal life doesnt affect the way he runs the city.

However, all that crap that he spent the city's money on just makes me wonder.

Coleman Young did his dirty shit yes but the city was in no way as bad off as it is now.

Here's the thing though. The current events of todays politics are seemingly getting worse with no one having a true answer on how to fix the problems. Kwame, using one of his congressional parents to render him a position as mayor, has no clue what he really is doing. He is taking all the credit for what was brought to the table before he came to office. The riverwalk, the superbowl, the allstar game, were all thought of and started by former mayors. That is why I think he has to be one of the dumbest people to take this office of "mayor." The guy really hasn't done much except put his family and friends on the payroll courtesy of the city and state people. What a major joke. Just shows me that he is an extreme example of the political corruptness that goes on wherever you go. Choosing a candidate these days is basically choosing the lesser of two evils.

Btw people! Gaf for mayor!! :jamin

Well, a large contributor to this whole corruption of our metropolitan hub is the phenomenon of "White flight" and the lack of accountability that an empowered population brings with it. It started after world war II and increased markedly after the July 1967 riots, but has pretty much ended... mostly because there aren't that many white folks left to leave.

Ever hear of Jacksonville, Florida? It is the largest city in Duval county. Actually... to be blunt, it IS Duval county. Any ways, in 1968, the citizens of Jacksonville and Duval county decided to consolidate county and city government. This essentially made Jacksonville the largest municipality area in the United States, at 885 square miles. Tokyo, the largest metropolitan area in the world in terms of population, is 1,359 square miles.

In any event, Jacksonville is not 885 square miles of city. A great deal of Duval county remains green space. However, when something untoward goes on in the city center, the whole county can not only be annoyed by it, but they can vote the bums out. Indeed, the citizens of the three cities in Duval county that remain independent can not only vote for the mayor of Jacksonville, they can run for that position.

Think about that for a second. If any Wayne county resident could vote for the mayor of Detroit, whatever entrenched interests that control the politics of Detroit would see their power dissolve in a moment. It's not a crazy idea. It's working for Jacksonville.

Hell, we are going to have medical marijuana on the ballot this November, I don't see how making Detroit more accountable to the suburbs is so crazy...

The text messages confirming the affair and the perjury are just the tip of the iceburg. Now they will investigate further into the alleged party at the Manoogian Mansion and the death of that exotic dancer some time afterwards, the two cops who won the law suit for wrongful termination for investigating the mayor, etc., etc., etc. I fear when all is said and done the deepths of scandal from Kwame and his administration will be staggering. He is a self-serving piece of sh!t, IMO.

WXYZ's website is talking about another recent menage a trois in a mountain resort in North Carolina. How much crap is this guy gonna bring with him? No doubt he uses the city's money as well as the time while he is out and about. Reminds me of the time he let his daughter use the city credit card heh.

I would not be surprised if he also had an investment in Coleman Young's Krugerrands (coins from South Africa) that the former mayor had in his possession.(Coleman Young that is)anyone remember the Krugerrands that Coleman Young bought?

The mafia "myth" is actually true. My dad worked for chessie rail road at the old fort street location back in '71 and at least once a week workers (my dad included) would find abandon cars (under the embassador bridge) and their would be one, two or three persons in these cars that had died from gunshots. My dad would later say that after the first car he stumbled upon if he seen a strange car parked under the bridge he wouldn't go near.

It got so bad that chessie closed down that location for the safety of their employees.
