torn asunder Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 There are 7 girls in a bus Each girl has 7 backpacks In each backpack, there are 7 big cats For every big cat there are 7 little cats Question: How many legs are there in the bus? 0 is not the answer and there is no bus driver. umm 14? it never says that the girls have the backpacks with them on the bus! (if they are on the bus with them, it's 10990...)
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 they have them on the bus...
Msterbeau Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Or maybe not. How big are these big cats? If they're tigers or Panthers or something like that, there's no way in hell you can fit 49 of them on a bus with 7 humans girls and all that other stuff... :-P
Msterbeau Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Actually... I don't think you'll be getting any cats in a backpack without some scratches... never mind the size.
torn asunder Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 7 girls * 7 backpacks each 49 backpacks * 7 big cats 343 big cats 343 big cats * 7 small cats 2401 small cats. 2401sm. cats * 4 legs = 9604 343 big cats * 4 legs = 1372 7 girls * 2 legs = 14 9604 + 1372 + 14 = 10990 am i missing anything!?
Kit Kat P Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 okay I missed the 7 backpacks each, I am not smarter than a 5th grader
Msterbeau Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 The problem with being a modern adult is that you think everything is a trick question. Assuming no bus driver, I believe you're correct. But that was too simple so I guessed other things... 7 girls * 7 backpacks each49 backpacks * 7 big cats 343 big cats 343 big cats * 7 small cats 2401 small cats. 2401sm. cats * 4 legs = 9604 343 big cats * 4 legs = 1372 7 girls * 2 legs = 14 9604 + 1372 + 14 = 10990 am i missing anything!?
TygerLili Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Where did the little cats come from? Did the big cats eat them or something? Or are they all pregnant?
Kit Kat P Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 and how are 7 little girls carrying backpacks w/ squirming cats in each???
the eternal Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Has anyone consulted the ASPCA on this?? BTW, Bean fwded this quizzical tale of cruelty and I am apparently the only one in my workplace that is smarter than a 5th grader. I can't say I'm surprised.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 We should start a club.
jadnifer Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Yeah I thought that it was a trick question too. I could see why they would give it to a 5th grader though. They have different problems that they have to solve. Its a story problem. They have to multiply and add and such.
