Tryp Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 So I have my job interview today at Vetor Sale Co. It's a company selling Cuto Knives, booking oppitments to sell knives. You get 10% of what you sell plus an hourly wage of $17.25. You get to make you own hours, pending on how many bokings you make in a day. I know I will work s much as I can I need the money. Wish me luck. PS: They are hiring so if you want a job/interview send me your name and number.
Onyx Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Best of luck with it. Sounds like a pretty good job - good hourly plus 10% could add up nicely.
saechalyn Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Be very careful. There are a lot of fraud allegations against this company. some links here, and google turns up even more.
xbittergracex Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I don't want to be negative here, but don't do it. I've also went for this job before. They want you to pay for the knives. (like 3-800 depending). You get paid Hourly....because appointments are approximately one hour long....and few and far between. Thier main goal is to get you to sell them to your friends and family, because who else is going to pay hundreds of dollars for knives? I don't mean to burst your bubble or be negative...but I live right near this place and I know MANY MANY people who have tried to do this.....and its a big scam. 14.05 an hour (used to be) + 10% of a sale (perhaps like $300) = $44.05 IF you make a sale....there are no other hourly compensation unless you have more appointments. The money is not worth it....especially considering its just a scam anyways.

Well, you'll get the job, they don't turn anyone down, so I'd wish you luck but you won't need it. *coughcoughscamjobcoughcoughsomanyofmyfriendshavebeenfooledbyCutcobeforecough*

Let this be a life lesson to you: If it sounds too good to be true then it's a scam. I know in particular off hand that Cutco is one such company that does this.
CandyQuackenbush Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Dude, did not read that post above Cher's. Disreguard my PM.
Onyx Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 That really sucks that they lie to people like that. :(
xbittergracex Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 It does. I hate to be the one to just put it out there like that because it always sounded like an awesome job and a legit ad. It was really disappointing to me to find out. It does suck....and I guess I can't really even call it a scam, considering they are 'technically' telling the truth. But they really just count on people selling to thier friends and family.....which I think is pretty shady. They get you to buy all the stuff....so its almost like....by hiring you....they sell at least 1 product....and they don't really have to pay you unless you sell.....so its no loss for them to keep hiring people....thats probably the number one way they make thier money is by people like us here in michigan, who are hurting pretty bad for money and jobs....and $17 an hour seems like a God-Send. Then you get the job and you feel like you've finally found something. Its pretty cruel really.

But...they expect you to sell their very expensive product with no leads. That's an extremely difficult thing to do. They go after young people on purpose because they aren't likely to realize that...and after they sell to their parents and relatives and maybe a few of dad's coworkers, they don't have anyone else to sell to. Because honestly people who want to buy hundreds of dollars worth of knives are probably just going to go to Williams Sonoma and not wait for a teenager to come to their door.
Hellion Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I looked into this about 7 years ago, they have a place in Roseville, well it definately sounding too good to be true,I had my doubts and even though they said I had a job,I never bothered with it,this place sounds just like the bs you see in the classifieds, "Stuff envelopes and make $500 a week" or assemble products at home for $3,000 a month" Yeah right,SCAM!!!
Tryp Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 I turned them down as soon as they said their motto is a friend of a friend. And I have to make my own hours and the prson that referred me would get 5% of sales to every person hired that they referred. Sounded to iffy to me I didn't likei t.
