Dubh Aingeal Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Linus views OSX Leopard as Crap Apple's much-touted new operating system, OS X Leopard, is in some ways worse than Windows Vista, says the founder of the Linux open source project, Linus Torvalds.
Msterbeau Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 You got the quote wrong. "I don't think they're equally flawed - I think Leopard is a much better system," he said. "(But) OS X in some ways is actually worse than Windows to program for. Their file system is complete and utter crap, which is scary." So it's a better system, just worse to program for. Maybe. Not like he's unbiased. And Apple is looking to implement a new file system called ZFS that was developed by Sun. There was a possibility for it in Leopard, but that didn't happen.
Rayne Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I wasn't all that impressed with Leopard either. (My laptop runs Tiger).
Msterbeau Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I wasn't all that impressed with Leopard either. (My laptop runs Tiger). It has a number of under the hood updates that makes it way better for us at work. Hooking up to other computers, network shares, etc is easy-peezy. I like Time Machine too. Other stuff I could take or leave.
Shade Everdark Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 As a Windows person, myself, with a slight hint of Linux, I can comfortably say that nothing is worse Vista. Unless you're talking about Windows Me. Or the original Mac OS.

Eventually they should release it separately.
Winter Steele Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Personally I prefer Windows XP to Vista .
Msterbeau Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Time machine was the only thing I saw that I would use ... Eventually they should release it separately. Don't count on it. Time Machine is probably tightly integrated with other enhancements in Leopard and whatever future versions come out. Besides.. if they took it out, you wouldn't buy Leopard.
twilight Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I wish Cover Flow for files would be released separate. That is a cool part of Leopard.
