jadnifer Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 McCain is the last republican in the running right? From what I can tell, he really isn't dong well in the primaries. If he dropped out, would it just be Clinton and Obama on the ballot? I know that Huckabee is still in there but he isn't doing so well either. Is McCain even allowed to drop out even if he wanted to? Doesn't there have to be a republican and a democrat on the ballot?

n0Mad Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Ron Paul is still in though he doesn't have enough delegates to even come close to getting the Republican nomination. I think he should have ran as Libertarian from the get-go.
Msterbeau Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Um... McCain, Huckabee and Paul are all still in it, though McCain has a huge lead in the delegate count. The Republican and Democratic primaries are separate. There will be a candidate from each party. Plus the independents.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 and since Romney dropped out... McCain is doing damn well in the primarys and polling for the general election has him doing pretty well against both Democrats.
Msterbeau Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 McCain vs Obama: Polls show Obama edging McCain by 4% - 8% http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20..._obama-225.html McCain vs Clinton: McCain is on top by a similar margin. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20...-224.html#polls Course... it's 8 months before election time... Lot's could happen before then.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 4-8% is pretty good considering that two months ago it was 20-30% it's also within the margin of error for most polls.

sass_in_the_pants Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 there is always the green party... heh Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them] [audience gasps in terror] Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us. [murmurs] Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system. Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate. Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away. [Kang and Kodos laugh out loud] [Ross Perot smashes his "Perot 96" hat] I'm just sayin...
