Is There No Diplomacy In The World.

I think it's really sad that we have to be at war right now and our soldiers can't be enjoying time with their families more. We could die at any moment in this life and they are the most fragile right now of any people. Why do we make our own children so disposable? Is there no reasoning with the enemy? Is there nothing we could trade to satisfy him? Could we not give him some technology that would benefit his people in a positive way, and encourage growth for his community before we end up doing something really dumb and starting a World War? Wouldn't this be much cheaper in the long run? I don't know man. This shit's pretty fucked, and I don't want to die in an atomic explosion man.......

I am a disposable hero because bush is making money by making me as such with the oil in iraq.

there's your answer..

greedy rich old white men that don't give a fuck about others. you cant make em listen if they don't give a fuck, unless enough people say enough is enough and are determined enough to pose a serious enough threat to make them give a fuck and listen...

Fortunately the elections are comming soon, though my expectations of all candidates aren't that great, even the highest obama on my list, i still don't think he'll be too concerned to getting us the hell out immediately. it's greed and money that's running politics.

But the world has always been fucked up and unfair. I just deal with the bullshit the best I can and know that the fact I still exist proves they've not taken me down or beaten me yet. And I so hope that pisses alot of people off to see I'm still alive.

We have war because diplomacy does not always work. Because some people''s idea of diplomacy is to strap bombs to a hostage and have them drive into a busy street market before setting off the bomb. We have war because some peoples idea of of diplomacy is to fly planes into building full of people. We have war because some people think that dropping mustard gas and Sarine gas on innocent villages is Diplomacy. We have war because some people think that forcing a mother and father to watch their teen age daughter gang raped and then her throat slit is diplomacy. We have war because some people think that putting living people in a wood chipper is diplomacy. We have war becuase some people think that kidnapping and torture are good ways to make a point before a diplomatic meeting. We have war because people are animals. We have war because some people... like all of the above, need to die so the rest of us can get on with real diplomacy.

Somewhere in an alternate universe where the media tells the truth, I just might say that logic applies somewhere.....

Yes...and that logic definately isn't here. Especially not in the people whom we're fighting against...they'll kill us at all costs and won't listen to words and reason.

War = Desperate times call for desperate measures. This is one of those times.

Diplomacy requires both sides to entertain the possibility that they may be wrong , on even their most deeply held beliefs and willing to compromise. The more extremely theocratic mindset the less likely that is. The east being particularly unyielding, and not the most diplomacy-favoring of communities. Islamic extremists are convinced that they have a mission from The Lord to rid their land of the infidels and that they will have a fast-track to paradise if they act on that. Its hard , pretty much impossible to "reason" with someone that "knows for a fact" such things to which no "reason" can be applied.

The west was similar for centuries at various times and places, but fortunately for the world, at a time when weapons of mass destruction and easily obtainable weapons of slightly less destruction were not so widely available to the people with such reason-less ideas.

I would SO hug you right now if you didn't live in Florida. I couldn't have put that any better myself.

Here, this will have to do: :grouphug

the goal of the real enemy (iran) is to bring about armageddon and bring about the end of the world as we know it and nothing you can do will persuade them not to set off the bomb that will acheive their goal. they have their own revelation and second coming beliefs. we would not die in a nuclear explosion because they only have the technology to hit things locally. the only way the whole planet could die from it would be if pretty much ALL the nukes on the planet were set off at once and that still wouldn't kill most people. what they would die from is the 3 years of nuclear winter that would follow where all the food chains collapsed and evey one starved to death (an unlikely case senario). but if they did set off a nuke it would mean another world war, i'm sure. personally i don't belive they have a snowballs chance in hell of winning but sadly lots of people would die anyway. they only way we can prevent war is to take these nut bags out preemptively.

I can't remember the author of this quote but he said: War doesn't determine who's right, it determines who's left."

And that's all I have to say about that.

It's funny how many Americans don't see that either. To me it's because we were raised differently and were raised to be free thinkers and use our own judgement as to what right and wrong is. We honestly cannot fathom a nation of people that lives by this train of thought so most Americans think that if we "invite the middle east to tea and talk about it" we'll come up with a solution and they'll magically stop wanting to kill us, even though that's what they were PROGRAMED (notice how I didn't use the word "raised") to do.

It's like those crazy Evangelical people that think Jesus is coming back any second now...and they've been thinking the same thing for a LOOONG time.

is this not the way things have always been, since the beginning?

It certainly appears that diplomacy is dead. I find it ironic that people who profess xenophobic feelings and advocate killing people call themselves patriotic while advocating for diplomacy and understanding is somehow UnAmerican. I think a study of Joe McCarthy might educational for some people.

Ah, crazy Joe. Not to threadjack, but you realize that only crazy people come out of Wisconsin.

You have Joe McCarthy, Ed Gein, and Jeffrey Dahmer. I rest my case.

He also worked at a law firm for several years one town over from my hometown.

I know the feeling! So get this, when I was stuck in ABQ I decided to re-activate my phone. Now, for years I have been running a Straight Talk Mobile Hotspot for wifi instead of paying for actual phone service, because I get more data for 50 bucks on the wifi plan than I would get for the same price for my phone plan, and I don't call anybody very often if ever, so it only made sense. Well while I was in ABQ I got desperate and decided I needed to make some phone calls so I walked down to Walmart to get a  45 dollar plan for my phone, only to realize that I had to walk back to walmart again (4 miles one way) to get a new Sim card, because the one I had was too old, apparently...  Anyway, literally the second I reactivate my phone - I got a phone call from a frickin' debt collector!  I mean it was so instantaneous that I assimed it was Straight Talk calling to confirm my activation or something - instead it was somebody with a foreign accent that I could barely understand, asking for whoever the person was that previously had the phone number I had just been assigned. . . I was so irritated with this fact.    And yeah now I'm getting multiple calls, daily, from everybody and their brother, looking for whoever the person was that used to have this number.  Wells Fargo, AT&T, etc etc.    I think there needs to be some better way of doing this. Recycling phone numbers as fast as we do this day & age isn't working out very well. 🤷

I have no idea why I'm even on all of these call lists that are on Robo-Dial by A.I.  One is a female voice and the other is a male voice and all they did was change the name that they give you.  I did get put through to a few live people to try to ask them to remove me from their list, but they, the telemarketer, hung up on me.   It's like I'm living "Telemarketers Revenge" for all the years of people handing up on them.   I always spoke with the telemarketer and then wished them a good day before hanging up.  And this is what I get for all of my decades of kindness.  I don't think I deserve this, but the World has lost a lot of the niceties that it used to have when I was growing up.  And no...COVID did not cause this.  I'm also getting tired of that excuse.  Its been 6 years!  People felt they were given the Green Light to be anti-social and rude to your face and now it is part of society just like everything else Mainstream adopts and considers it a cultural add-on.   I just hope I can survive this onslaught of calls blowing up my phone until it dies down.  Else, I will place a block on my number and only allow calls from family, friends and medical associated with my job.

This is crazy.   I had to mute my phone because I am getting 50+ calls a day regarding Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Burial Benefits, a Senior Food Expense Card, a Senior Social Security monthly reimbursement benefit, etc., and I don't qualify for any of it.  I don't even meet the age requirement.   At current, I have 53 missed calls and 38 of them were from yesterday.
