Msterbeau Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 This is a very cool computer game!! It's seems primarily for kids although I like playing it too. My girls are 7 and 9 and seem to be figuring things out without too high a frustration level so I'd say 6-12 is a good age range. "Who doesn't know it - the cult game, "The incredible Machine®", - the one that captivated many computer gamers. So...DIY freaks, logical thinkers, and superbrains get ready! Moulded along the lines of that classic is yet another gem - "Crazy Machines - The Inventor's Workshop" - and this one will test your logic and inventive talent to the limits. The task sounds easy enough, doesn't it? With the given parts, construct a machine that matches the objective of the game; but, as always, there are hidden pitfalls in there - how can I grill meat using a light bulb?, or, how can I get a flower to grow using a cannon or gun? These are all questions that you can answer during the game! "Crazy Machines" won't only test your brainpower – it has features like particle systems, volumetric realtime shadows, clothing simulation – and you won't be able to get enough of the incredibly detailed machine parts designed by the prize-winning design team "DBKI" - graphics both powerful and impressive. You want to create your own "IQ tests"? No problem! The user-friendly Editor will help you create your own level." http://www.crazy-machines.com/CMERF_ENG/CMERF_ENG.html They have versions for both Mac and Windows.

Great just when I thought that addiction was gone you trow this at me. I have the original... Looks like there's a follow-on version too... Muuuaaahhh!! My kids love it. I like that they are getting mentally challenged by it while having a good time.
Dubh Aingeal Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Actually there were more than just 2 in the series: http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/incred...-machine-series * The Incredible Machine (1992, MS-DOS / Macintosh / 3DO) * The Even More Incredible Machine (1992, MS-DOS / Microsoft Windows, Macintosh) * Sid & Al's Incredible Toons (1993, MS-DOS) * The Incredible Toon Machine (1994, Microsoft Windows) * The Incredible Machine 2 (1994, MS-DOS / Macintosh) * The Incredible Machine 3 (1995, Microsoft Windows / Macintosh) * Return of the Incredible Machine: Contraptions (2000, Microsoft Windows / Macintosh) * The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions (2001, Microsoft Windows / Macintosh) Sid & Al's Incredible Toons and The Incredible Toon Machine were not an official part of the series, but are essentially a cartoon version of the same concept that were created by Chris Cole.
