"borderline" Rudeness & Dgn Civility

Luckily for most DGNers the mods do their jobs to the best of their ability so for the majority of DGNers know what "play n ice" means and don't have to have it spelled out for them. This is never visibly an issue for them at least not for long. Even some of the worst offenders seem "Nice" to some as their crap is removed quickly (or in very rare cases they are removed after usually, way, way to many chances and polite suggestions that they cut out the rudeness).

Never-ending "indirect" rudess and intentional baiting or disruption of decent topics (especially from people that have been close to or have already been banned and have come back) can't be tolerated forever and we can only do so much "suggesting" that it is stopped. We have a board to run with dozens of issues to deal with every day. If the same people , over and over again still don't get what level of civility is expected on DGN, even after having been hand-held a million times, they either just need to leave or will be made to leave. This board is for civil discourse, not brow-beating via nonsensical points or insult ad infinitum or waves and waves of negative commentary.

100s of people can make their points without the nonsense and vitriol, some that cant are at least smart or civil enough to know they need to make them somewhere else. If neither of these are possible for the reader without insults , civility and/or just shutting up at times when it feels impossible to make a point without coming off as rude (especially for people that have wasted the mods time dozens of times before) then just go, or you will be gone.

This is not a "discussion" this is a statement. The response is to say nothing and leave, or to shape up. The "play nice" rules of DGN are not intended to tolerate never-ending streams of "almost rude enough but not QUITE rude enough" behavior so that the abrasive can stay around forever and sour discussions ad nauseum or to browbeat people to death with nonsensical arguments.

If you think you might be misunderstood take some time to make it clear your trying to place nice, that might take a whole extra 3 sentences sometimes and no "Not to be rude... but..." or "Un... no sorry." type commentary doesn't do a thing to help the situation.

This seems to be most often an issue in the "politics" section (as expected) which can also be the most interesting forum at times, but regardless of where the negativity is, it should stop.
