My Actress Sister - Her Best Billing Yet

My sister Maureen and I are estranged. But I still keep tabs on her acting career online, and I hope she does well.

She is currently filming a movie called Bait Shop. Say what you will about it being a "redneck version of 'Barber Shop'." It's the biggest speaking role she's gotten yet - she's 9th billed and the first woman billed.

My other sister told me Maureen has the role as the "wisecracking waitress" at a diner.

If you go to the IMDB page I linked above, you'll see further down the list another guy named Preuss. That's my sister's husband. He's also an actor. He has more roles to his resume than she does, but she tends to get the better roles. She works a full-time job for the State of Florida, while he "acts full time" doing things like the shows at Universal Studios theme park, etc. So since she's the major breadwinner, she doesn't have as much time to devote to acting. It's a shame, because she's far the better actor. That's not just sisterly prejudice going on there. I've seen things both of them were in, and the thing that tells me she's better is I can actually forget she's my sister. Whereas her husband tends to over-emote and seems to stammer a lot to make his lines last longer.

In any case, I will probably go see this at the theater when it comes out. Not my kind of movie at all. But it'll be cool to see my sister on the big screen. :thumbsup:
