Protection For The Oblivious

Padded lampposts are being trialled in a London street to protect inattentive pedestrians.

A pilot scheme has been launched in Brick Lane after it was found to have the highest number of 'walking and texting' injuries in the country.

A study carried out by 118 118 found one in ten people has hurt themselves while focused on their mobile phone screen.

The charity Living Streets is so concerned that it has teamed up with the directory enquiries service to test a scheme to wrap up the nation's lampposts.

A poll will be carried out on Brick Lane to gauge the response of locals.

If successful, the concept will be rolled out in Birmingham, Manchester, and Liverpool.

know what? rather than padding, i think the money should go to a dedicated staff of individualspatrolling the streets... the intent? whenever they see someone walk into a lamp post, it's their job to morph into don rickles and humiliate them so much that they'll never want to face that kind of ridicule again, thereby making them more cautious in their "pedestrian" eneavors!!

If those people are too inattentive that they walk into lamp-posts, they deserve to walk into them. Let them hurt themselves. After a few times of that, they'll eventually learn.

As I've said before and will continue to say, "The world is full of stupid people."

I'm not sure whats more offensive... catering to the dumb asses to self involved to look up... or the people that mock them

I'm kinda confused. I understand that we are making comments about the people that aren't paying attention. It doesn't necessarily think that they are stupid people or making fun of them. We are calling their actions stupid and making fun of the outcome.

:shock::hrhr:

actually I knew someone once who had a habit of walking into things head first.

oh and my man saw a girl he worked with knock herself out on one. She had been drinking though so any lawsuit would have been thrown out but ya......it happens a lot actually.
