If You Had Four... Wait, Five Days Off...

I needed a break from work and scheduled a long weekend in April. My dilemma is I don't know what to do with myself. Don't need to sit and veg at home because I get that all week! SO, if you had four days off what would you do?

**Decided to take an extra day and throw in a one-day course and seminar on using XML and Adobe InDesign. A little DIA on Sunday... some partying too if anything is going down.

I would rent a cabin (or go to my moms house in the woods) for a much needed spiritual retreat. Warm tea and sunrise meditations......long walks.....a sand painting.

That's a good plan. I haven't wandered north in a long time... maybe leave technology behind for a few days would the soul good!

Fortunately, I sold my laptop... but what about the iPod? Must have the music! I will keep the cellphone nearby in case of emergencies.

Just promise that you won't don't do like I've been doing with my vacation that I took this week..... absolutely nothing. I mean well you can go some where other than home and do nothing, but I've been doing absolutely nothing at home.

Not this time... Last year's vacations were me hanging out at home. I'm hitting the road this time around... either heading North or West.

I'd go to Gatlinburg and breathe some mountain air.

Which way to Gatlinburg?

Which way to Gatlinburg?

its about 8 hours south. If you look up the Travelodge Hotel in Gatlinburg...its a really good priced hotel and its very nice and classy. If you google it you can get directions.

Let me know if you go so I can be totally Jealous......

just another side-note....depending on how much you want to spend...you can always hit up Travelocity Last Minute Deals....I once went to Myrtle Beach alone for like $289. That included round trip air-fare and hotel stay. The last minute deals is cool because you plug in where you're flying from and they give you destinations based on price...lowest first....

interesting... never heard of the site. I will be browsing it the next few days then! Looks like I'll be doing a road trip west towards Chicago. Eventually, will end up there. Maybe grab some friends on the way. That hasn't happened in ages.

if your looking for a cheap way to chicago check out Megabus.com

it leaves from downtown and its a straight shot to chicago...unlike greyhound or amtrak....and a round trip will cost less than a tank of gas.

my man's family cabin is in... hmm.. Standish? Michigan.

Its sooo pretty there. That is fun..

My favorite little getaway is Kentucky to see my family....

But 4 days is a perfect Chicago trip. (Its fun to ride the trains.)

I keep hearing the train is the way to go and will have to check that out sometime!

My ex-mother-in-law, my step-daughter, and I all took the train from MI to DC and back. It was gorgeous and a very relaxing way to travel. We did get a sleeper car though.

I will end up doing that to Chicago later in Summer... I put in a request for one additional day to do a seminar and one-day course in XML with Adobe InDesign. Can't pass that up. :)

For me, five days off without commitments means backpacking trip. I'm crazy like that though.
