Hmmm...I really haven't listened to any full albums this year. I guess Mythmaker by Skinny Puppy has to win by default because it's the only one I've heard in its entirety.

I've not been focusing on seeking out "new music" per-se that much in the last year or two. I've mainly focusing on the running & promotion of DGN, my Science/philosophy/religion stuff (along with trying to remain alive and all hah)But of the stuff i can remember as being specifically "2007" since I rarely think of music in terms of when its released:

London After Midnight - Violent Acts of Beauty

VNV - Judgment

The Magnetic Fields - Distortion ( i think this is officially 2008 but it was available online in 2007)

Decidedly not "obscure" anything as I've only been keeping up with the bare essentials in terms of new releases.

What's an album?

What's an album?

I actually thought almost the same thing. "Albums? Refresh my memory on that term again?" :p

Pennywise, "Reason to Believe"

Noisuf-X - "The Beauty of Destruction"

but there were a ton of excellent albums last year that would rank a VERY close second.

Mythmaker by skinny puppy is my first choice but by the end of the year its a toss up between loudspeaker by Destroid or crossroads by mind.in.a.box

Haven't listened to a lot either, but for anyone who misses the beautiful obscurity of Cocteau Twins,

23 by Blond Redhead is very nice.

I think Misery is a Butterfly (their previous effort) is a little better, but this one definitely gives you more of a jolt.

For any post rock fans, You, You're a History in Rust by Do Make Say Think is very good too.

I didn't see a thread about this lately but to go along with fav album of the year how about fav newcomer of the year. I would say mine would HAVE to be Angels on Acid " Eyes Behind the Curtain".
