Homicidalheathen Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 *bump* Yah its costly but look at all ya get for 35 bucks.... I must see DJ Jenny HOST SANDRA BERNHARD Comedians, Actress and Social Commentator Host Sandra Bernhard (born in Flint, Michigan) is one of America’s most incendiary comedians, as well as an actress and social commentator whose provocative stand-up comedy pushes the PC envelope to the limit. As volatile as she is versatile, Bernhard has graced the cover of Playboy, performed a one-woman show on Broadway, starred alongside Robert DeNiro in Martin Scorsese’s “King of Comedy”, played one of network televisions first lesbian characters in “Roseanne” and is currently being featured in April’s Vanity Fair as one of the twelve Queens of Comedy. Only the product of a Proctologist father and an Abstract Artist mother could produce such a wonderfully skewed world-view. DJ AFRIKA BAMBAATAA The Amen-Ra of Universal Hip Hop Culture Father of the Electro-Funk Sound Afrika Bambaataa, a DJ and community leader from the Bronx, was instrumental in the development of hip-hop in the 70’s. He was recently nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bambaataa has bypassed much of the fame and consumption of commercial hip-hop to live a life of musical revolution. An engine of creation, he helps to spark imagination and shatter conventions around the world as a global Zulu ambassador. His visit here is a rare chance to be in contact with the living heart of his music. We owe Bambaataa many thanks for his influence on hip-hop culture in music, dance, screen, language and fashion. Come to Music Hall and pay homage to this legend, a 30 plus year turntable veteran. DJ JENNY LAFEMME DJ Jenny LaFemme immigrated to Detroit from Moscow as a teenager and could barely speak English. She quickly adapted to American culture because of her love of Western pop music. Her grasp of the language was fueled by her desire to understand the popular songs of her 80’s youth by artists such as Madonna and Michael Jackson. Jenny is fully engrossed in the house and electronica scene, but her Russian-American peers will not let her forget her roots. Utilizing a mix of house, dance club, and hot new Russian groups, she organizes weekly and monthly parties that are packed wall-to-wall with the Detroit area’s young, chic and unapologetically affluent Russian community. Many of the groups that Jenny has sponsored, promoted and produced such as Ruki Vverh, Demo, Akula who have played to sold-out venues in Detroit and Chicago and are becoming famous on the International set. International promotion and events by Jenny LaFemme include Sony recording artist Alabina at the Royal Oak Music Theater; Italian superstar In-Grid at Detroit’s Blue Nightclub; residency at the Lush Bar Room; live sets on New York’s Russian radio show “New Life”. KGBEATS This bass heavy Chicago House duo, Keith Lotta and Dmitry Lovebone have been on mainstays in the Chicago House scene since 1993.
