My question would be why the woman thought it was ok to get into a relationship with her own father. Was she longing for that companionship and was having trouble finding it elsewhere? I mean I would like to say that if I were separated from my father and then reunited with him I wouldn't jump into bed with him. I could see it happening if they just didn't realize that they were related, that's an honest mistake, but knowing that he's your father and then still getting into that type of situation with him...... And then having to explain it to your child when she's old enough to understand, and what ridicule that child is going to go through.....

I wonder if her mother is still alive (I don't remember seeing it in the article) and if so what she has to say about the situation and if the daughter still talks to the mother.

Morally, this just makes my skin crawl. And psychologically....well, they're in for some loooooooong psychotherapy sessions~ especially that child.

Devoid of any sense of morality, or of my own personal thoughts/emotions, however, I was trying to think about this on purely a biological level. What's wrong with it biologically? I believe in evolution, which, at some point, means that early Neanderthals ( or whoever) all had to have sex with one another to procreate and further their own kind. If for some reason I was the last woman on the earth and there was one man left on the earth, I would realize that in order to propagate the species I would have to have a bunch of kids, and those kids would have to mate with each other, due to lack of an alternative. The idea would still gross me the hell out though.

Luckily, today we have a much bigger pool of partners to choose from. Between the genetic risks, and the psychological issues that are bound to arise, I don't see "Well, Adam and Eve did it" as a good enough justification for this.

I don't believe I indicated that there was nothing wrong with it biologically. I questioned it, and then joked about the end result.....us~so yeah, there's gotta be something wrong with it biologically. I mean in a way what Troy said earlier made a lot of sense that really it is more of a change in society that has caused such things to be pressed in the media. However I do not personally agree with it, but I am keeping in mind that he had been gone for 30 years out of her life...so I can understand them feeling like they have no real family connection.

Now...even if I was just going to meet my father tomorrow for the first time and I thought that he was the most gorgeous man in world...which just thinking about that makes me want to throw up....I wouldn't sleep with him or have a romantic relationship with him whatsoever, and that's not just because I have a boyfriend.

And even if I did for some sick reason beyond all my logical thinking, I would under NO circumstances have a child. I can't even begin to imagine what that child is going to go through psychologically growing up when her peers find out that her daddy is her grandpa and her mother is her half-sister. well...*ponders how to explian this without condoning it*...ok..I don't CONDONE what they did...but I can understand it, from a certian point of view.

First off...they've been seperated for what?...30 years? Daughter is 31?....thats a LONG ASS time, ppl....I doubt that they even really thought of each other as father and daughter, even if they knew.

We as humans have a parent/child recognition because, as children, we are around out parents constantly. This happens alot with Adopted Children, and why most never know the truth till much, much later. It's not something that is on "auto-instinct" for us as a race. Human children are kinda like smart ducks....we will adapt and copy what we see the most.

Secondly...I'm pretty sure that everyone here knows what "lead around by your emotions" is. Again, I'm not condoning it, but there are situations and times where, for certian people, that emotions over-ride alot of other things, and those things can, and have, included parental instinct and common sense.
