Killer_Bunnie Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Yesterday I quit my job (gave them 2 weeks because I'm nice though) Kinda having doubts about it, but working 2 days a week for demanding and rude customers who almost never tip just got to me. I will miss my regular customers soo much that it already makes me sad. I made $3 an hour, but since people are to cheap to tip and come in with a bad attitude downtown I had enough of the bull and no money to make it worth my time. Nobody needs to be treated like I had been for a while now. I had other issues there, they just kinda built up until I got a call from the boss(maybe it was her timing, I had just been bitched at by a customer for picking up the phone, to take an order!) and told her I was putting in my 2 weeks. My son needs things, his father only has him on weekends and won't take him any extra days so I can work since he doesn't have a job to pay child support. If I had only waited a little longer to quit I could have found a job to go to. hopefully I can find a job before the 2 weeks is up, I'm so very worried
Onyx Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Wow. At $3 an hour 2 days a week you really didn't lose much at all. Have you ever done waitressing? Sometimes that can have a flexible enough schedule if you are willing to work weekends. I used to do it (sucked at it myself but if you have a pretty good memory you can make good $). I had a friend who was a cocktail waitress and made more working one weekend than I did in 40 hours at my day job. Best wishes on finding something to fit your schedule where you can get some decent pay.
TygerLili Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Maybe you can find a couple of kids to watch during the day. My aunt did that when her kids were too young for her to go to a regular job, and made some decent money. Good luck with whatever you find!
sass_in_the_pants Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Cocktail waitress, maybe? My friend's an engineer and, on a per hour basis, she makes more money working at the bar at night. Just a thought. There ARE jobs out there. Good luck!
Morbid Side Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Hang in there Bunnie. I know what it's like to be unemployed something will come your way soon. I am haunted by the regret of not staying at my first job. As Tygerlili pointed out, maybe a job babysitting or petsitting. Cats are fun!
Miranda Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Most people have quit a job without having one lined up, people just get fed up with bad treatment. I hope you find something where your hard work and effort are appreciated. Maybe you can concentrate on only finding a position that won't find you working with the public?
Killer_Bunnie Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 the restaurant at the end of my street looks promising, they asked why I left, and I told them I traveled over an hour on the bus to be bitched at and make less than $75 a night for working hard. they are telling the Manager to call me tomorrow, because they liked me. wish me luck
Hellion Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I hope the best for you KB,I have done that a couple of times years ago, some jobs are not worth the stress,IMO
Onyx Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 That would be so good if you could do without that hour long bus ride. Much less stress for sure! Best wishes.
Homicidalheathen Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 waitressing in the right place can be quite good. I made 150 a night once....sometimes just 75 but it was usually around 100 for Friday or Saturday nights in a busy family place
