Pandora Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 There are statistics showing that a good 60-70% of this country suffers from dehydration, and most don't even know it. Drink a few glasses a day and you'll reap some big benefits. Lose weight faster, wake up easier (i.e. less snooze hitting), better hair, better skin, less headaches (many headaches are caused by not enough water consumption), you'll eat less (which gets rid of weight And saves money), more general energy, and a bunch of other great "side effects". Some say drink 8 glasses, more if your working out, some say 4-5 is good if you're also getting fluids from other drinks (though caffeine is a water killer and a diuretic.) Try drinking 3 big glasses a day and see how you feel, when I'm up on my water I feel Great more often than not. Water, it's good. Drink it!
torn asunder Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 just to add - a lot of the gym-goers i talk to online say they drink up to/over a gallon of water a day! people definitely do not get enough water!
Onyx Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Thanks for the reminder Pandora! I definitely can feel a difference when I drink enough water. Dehydration is a huge migraine trigger for me, and when I'm busy and really focusing I can sit and work a whole 8 hour day without realizing I didn't drink *anything* the entire day. I nearly always end up with a horrible migraine when I do that.
torn asunder Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Reality Check quite true - for people who exercise, though, they will require more than 32-48oz of liquids a day. it's also true that people get hydration from the foods they eat, and from things like pop, and even coffee; caffeine, however, is a mild diuretic, and will flush fluids out of the body, too, os it doesn't quite count as much. best rule of thumb i've seen is that one's urine should be pale in color - if it's colorful in any way, it likely means one is low on fluids...

I forgot that... (so dayglow yellow=too much coffee) ...and..Quiet as it is kept you CAN actually drink TOO much water... ..you will feel drunk.. a little..
