Francis X. Donnelly / The Detroit News

A Michigan woman who was a fugitive for 32 years has been recaptured in California.

Susan Lefevre of Saginaw County was found Tuesday living with a husband and two children in a wealthy San Diego suburb, said the U.S. Marshals office in Grand Rapids. She told police her family didn't know about her past.

Lefevre, who was living under the name of Marie Walsh in Del Mar, Calif., walked away from a Northville Township prison in 1976.

She had served one year of a 10-to-20-year sentence for a drug conviction when she fled what is now called Robert Scott Correctional Facility.

Lefevre is awaiting extradition back to Michigan, where she will serve the rest of her prison sentence.

It wasn't immediately known how police had found Lefevre.

Wow, interesting. Just shows that criminals aren't always as "free" as they think they are.

I watch way too much Court TV and Forensic Files.

I'd like to know what kind of drug use/possession warrants 10-20 years in prison?

I believe Ecstasy and a few other DANGEROUS life-threatening drugs do have long ass sentences such as this.
