I love my car.. but it's not a giant SUV.. but it is gas guzzling.. *sighs*

Thank goodness I don't have a car payment anymore.. the money I'm saving, I will probably someday put into my gas tank.. *sighs*

Well, I feel bad for the family of eight that needs an SUV for legitimate reasons, right? Still, the market will solve this problem pretty quick.

A minivan is a far more efficient way to carry that many people. I'm not sure there's a regular production SUV that will hold 8 anyways. 7 Yes..

Well, isn't a Minivan just an SUV with better press, really? The frames for most SUVs and Minivans are the same, right?

Totally different. Park a minivan next to one of the large or mid-sized SUV's. The first thing you'll notice is the minivan rides much lower even though the overall height is probably similar. There's a lot more room vertically then an SUV. Part of that is because most large SUV's are built using body on frame constriction vs the minivan's unibody construction. That extra inside height allows the packaging of occupants in a more efficient way. They're generally lighter for their overall length. They're also more aerodynamic and handle and ride better. There are SUV's with unibody construction. In fact many have now gone that way. But they're still far less efficient then a comparably sized minivan. The only reason to get a "real" SUV is to tow shit or do serious off-roading. Everything else is a waste of what it does well at.

Yeah can't really say this is a huge surprise.... Makes me appreciate my 30miles to the gallon Plymouth breeze a lil more!

Good, I hate being stuck in traffic behind the SUVs and trucks with the tinted windows. Can't see a damn thing!

I hate having an SUV.

I bought a '96 Explorer two years ago off of a (former) fellow employee because her rich ass was basically giving it away. It has all kinds of cool features and was literally pampered by this rich family its entire life. She was dying to get rid of it and lowered the price like crazy. After I bought it, she bought the same thing. It had the same color and everything, it was just a couple years younger. God, how I wish I had that kind of money.

Despite all these pros, the Explorer drives like shit. Who said that SUVs can drive on anything? Bullshit. I drive my mom's dinky little plastic Saturn over snow and ice and am always in complete control. When I drive this thing, I'm going 0.5 mph and praying that I'll make it home in one piece.

Stuff is expensive to get replaced and fixed on SUVs compared to smaller cars. I have already had to have a couple small things replaced on this thing, and it was not pretty.

And yes, gas is a nightmare. I'm stuck home a lot because I simply can't afford the gas.

A friend asks me why I won't sell this and get a new car, but I can't afford to have a car payment right now. Until I'm able to get some of my debt paid off and save some real money, then I'm stuck with this thing. At least it's a decent car in the meantime.

I swore I'd never own a minivan.

But then how the hell was I supposed to know that I was gonna have twins, y'know?

And Guy was all like 'Maybe you could get you an SUV. Don't be sad.' but I was like 'No. This is what I am and I'm not afraid to admit it.' and the funny thing is, all my friends LOVE the minivan. It really does seat 7 comfortably and there's TONS of storage not to mention that whole stow and go seating is actually really handy.

Still, I was the little snot at the gas station gloating because it cost $20 to fill the tank of my little Escort and now, well, now I don't even look at the gas pump. I just pump and drive away and pretend I didn't just spend $60. Oh well.

Where's my damn flying car anyway? I was promised a flying car.

I bet the roadrager's are having a fit about this.
