Vote For Clinton

I guess that's just meant as a statement right? No joke or sub-point I'm missing?

Having tried hard to ignore the horse-race aspects of this , and just look at the issues and where it (seems) each of the three possible candidates stand on various issues. I think I'd end up voting for Clinton. Even though of the three her personality just grinds on me for some reason.

But the continuing unification of church & state needs to stop (automatically means i cant vote republican at least not this term) but I'm a hardcore pro-business, pro-free market capitalist and fairly anti-socialist. So that leaves the lesser of two socialistic types, which as far as i can tell means Clinton. Talking just issues and stances on issues here, ignoring my "mood" or my "feelings" about the personalities. Personality wise i prefer Obama or McCain. But personality doesn't mean much (or at least i don't think it should) with something this important.

When I heard McCain say "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" He lost my vote. Maybe 8 years ago, but not now.

My vote is for experience, and Clinton has that in droves. Obama is very likable, but far too junior to run this country. Of course that's what they said about Kennedy too.

Actually my post was meant to show my lack of faith in any of the candidates.

Rather than "waste" my vote by not voting at all, I shall simply be voting for the person I think would best be president via write in.... William Jefferson Clinton.

honestly, the best way to show you disapprove of all the candidates, is to find either a third-party, or independant, who is most likely to gain 5% of the vote. the 5% threshold will make them eligible for federal campaign funding, and will also allow them into the national debates. in my opinion, *THIS* is the most imporatant thing i can do with my vote, and one of the major reasons i have consistently voted for ralph nader. (that and the fact that i agree with probably 90% of his stances) of all of the third-party / independant candidates out there, he has the greatest chance of garnering the amount of votes needed. sure, i know he'll never win - that's not the point. if the american people ever want quality candidates, they need to break the stranglehold the current two-party system has on the nation, and the presidential process, and there's only one way i can see that happening -

VOTE NADER!!!

I have to respectfully, but vehemently disagree with this line of thinking. While I love Nader, and appreciate and respect the major impact he has had on the planet, he has never been equipped to run this country. His Foreign Policy would kill us, because he has none, among other things.

Setting that aside, his stubbornness helped Bush "win" the first time in 00, and a second time in 04. Just like Perot helped Clinton in 92. He has admitted as much and apologized for this.

As for quality candidates, ha, I don't expect them in our apathetic political system, but these third party candidates brought us 8 years of Bush and that alone gives Nader a legacy of bad-faith for Americans. He should have stepped down in 00 and stopped running.

We live in a two party system, and will continue to for many years, I'm not happy about it, but I put my vote where it can count the most, for one of the two main candidates. Lame ducks do not deserve my vote, especially when the battle is between people like Bush and McCain. Voting for a third party candidate to make a point is just too risky when the result is 8 years of Bush, or God Forbid, 8 years of McCain in my opinion. I can totally understand where you're coming from, but the consequences of those votes is far to high a price to pay to make a political point.

the only reason those were consequences, was because the majority of people want to vote for a winner, not for who they really want. they vote for "the lesser of two evils" when they really should be voting for whomever they believe would run the country the best.

(disclaimer: this is not aimed at anyone directly, it's just my ranting against passivity...)

honestly, i have to say, shame on those people - you're the reason we've had to bitch about bad presidents, and you're the reason we'll never get away from this clusterfuck of an election process! vote your conscience, not what everyone else is doing! resignation and acceptance of the idea that "this is just the way it is, so i'll vote for "less-sucky", is mindless, sheeple-mentality, and in my opinion, has no place in this process.

i know i'm out of the norm, and i know it might take all my life before i see any changes, but that doesn't mean i should abandon my beliefs - until the duopoly is gone, and we have mutliple parties involved in the election process, i'm going to vote for anyone who has a chance to garenr enough votes to allow their party into the debates in the next election process, and i will encourage others to do the same! as far as the rest of you!? vote republi-crat!! why not keep the same shit you've all been bitching about for, oh, how many decades now!?

I Completely agree with you, but I know how the people in this country operate. You have to hit the majority of them over the head with a truck to make them sit up and make real changes. There is definitely a defeatist, and apathetic attitude in mainstream american regarding politics, and it sucks.

Would it be great if the majority of eligible voters actually Voted? Of course! Is that going to happen? Perhaps with this election in greater numbers.

I don't think Clinton is the lesser of two evils which is why I'm voting for her, and if Obama wins the nomination then great I'll vote for him.

I understand the principle behind voting for someone you favor over those you don't, but practicality has to take precedence for me.

If you want there to truly be a 3 or 4 candidate election, you and like-minded folks have to start campaigning for it, flyers, community rallies, a national movement, something to get the idea into American's heads. But frankly half this country is going to vote republican or christian if you will no matter what ideas you propose due to their values and morals and there isn't a thing to be done about that other than aggressive, fair campaigning. Religion still has a strong hold on right-wing politics and I don't see that grip loosening anytime soon.

Right now you are the minority (at least according to votes) when it comes to wanting more than a two-party candidacy, but I bet if there was a sustained movement that would change. I don't see Nader pushing for that in this election, or the last two, and so the burden of being a lame duck continues to fall on him. I'd love to see him use his considerable influence and wealth to start that movement.

It may not have been aimed at anyone... but I got a lump...

I never heard the rant about 5% before now... in the past I have been voting "strategicaly"...

That is WITH the Dem's, on Pres... and mostly Libritarian, locally...

I have used similar terms as 'sheeple' to describe the herd mentality many humans possess... so naturally, it hit home as if I said it myself...GOOD RANT...

That all said... I'm in... NADER it isnader-ralph-small.jpgfor our children to have a choice!

...and it is one more 'Warrior for this cause!

I will personally film the brutal murder of anyone that votes for that evil bitch that is known as HRC.

she is the absolute worse choice for this country...she's a female Nixon!!

She played the "stand by her man" card when billy cheated on her...MULTIPLE TIMES, mind you. You really want that running the country? What if England just starts bombing us? is it gonna be "stand by our friends" then for her? Thats like thanking the next person to piss in your face....it's retarded.

Oh...how about "it takes a village to raise a child"? thats a blatant pile of steaming crap. Instead of trying to promote good parenting, she goes for a complete opposite approach and tells us that EVERYONE is needed to raise your child. What happened to years of "hey...try paying attention to your kid. Talk to them, have diner with them....make an effort"? I don't like the "hey marge, can you watch brad for the next year after school, cuz I refuse to make some time for him" evil crap that Clinton is pushing. I think Cable Guy has the best approach: someone has to kill the babysitter.

oh...how about this....did any of you know that Hillary was one of the first political figures in her state, back when BIlly was gov of Arkansas, to back the school boards choice to LOWER the grading requirements for students, so they could pass?? I'm sorry, and call me crazy, but if your kid can't read and do math at a proper 5th grade level, what in hells darkest sewage pit makes you think he should go to the 6th grade? so he feels better about moving on with the rest of his classmates? thats so sweet of you....and when the rest of his class gets high paying jobs and your kid is the assistant manager at a Mc-fucked your life up cuz he can't make it farther then the first half of "the little engine that could"...you can explain to him that "baby....I didn't want you to be left behind your friends....so we traded a chance at a decent education for you so you could feel so much better about yourself....so how do you feel know?" I mean....jesus ppl...even G.I. Joe was telling us that it was good to stay in school and study.....if a cartoon can get it right, why should some evil, skull sucking witch from the deepest pits of the Underverse not follow that??

I'm just glad I'm the only on that got his joke.

Since I dont have the time or energy to join this fray,(I skimmed it a t best)

I'd just like to remind you to check the news tomorrown night.

If Obama wins Indiana on Tuesday, he may finally have this nomination sewn up.

I hope so, because I'm confident, looking at the issues, that either democrat would be better for this country right now than Sen McCain.

And the longer this drags out, the Democrats are just basically getting the coronation ceremony ready for John McCain.

Being a (fairly) well read student of American history and the Vietnam Era in particular, there is very little solid connection between Nixon and HRC. I'm not much of a fan of either of them, but they are very different. I could make some random parallels but their styles taken as a whole are very different and their political stances are also very different, almost opposites, as much as big-government advocates could be opposites.

I do believe in collective responsibility, the lack of collective responsibility is, i think a social ill. "Not my problem" is a plague and getting worse. The whole "me generation" concept that has continued to thrive is really bad.

Not much of a fan of any of the candidates honestly. I'm too centrist and both parties, despite the rhetoric are for MORE government, and more breaks for the people that don't need breaks (or shouldn't get breaks) and keeping bad companies afloat. Just these actual ISSUES stances , not just sound blurbs and such, that i read, tend to tell me to vote for HRC , even though my gut dislikes her the most of the three probable candidates next year. Well actually the issues lists have me voting for McCain, but theres no question on the questionares about the unification of church and state and usually nothing about science funding, which are huge issues for me, and generally "pro democrat" type things.
