Landlord Tenant

For over one year my current landlord hasn't repaired anything in the apartment I am staying at the moment. This has lead me to believe that he is a slumlord renting a condemned building. Any advice will help as to I am at a lost of words when he threatened me on the phone to get my stuff out of the house. The lease doesn't have me in it, but the bills are in my name (lights, gas, phone) so any advice will be appreciated.

who has their name on the lease??....and as long as your getting mail there....your considered a current resident, especially if the landlord knows of your residence there...and your paying the rent....if you have any reciepts of the rent payment....take those...and the lease...and the person on the lease....go to the county courthouse....and do yourself a favor....FILE a lawsuit....

That's the problem. I'm not on leaser its my sister, but I'm her Child Care Provider. As far as recipients go well its going all to well if you consider not playing for two months due to no repairs. Still looking for a place cause I don't want a eviction notice on my file when trying to get another apartment.

There's a lot of sites out there with directions on how to properly do it, but if you provide him written notice that until the repairs are done, the rent is going into an escrow account (and you must provide him with the account number) he is legally bound to make the repairs, and after that, he can have the money. He also cant evict you for that, so long as you do it properly.

I had similar problems with our former slumlord. You should talk to his superior about your concerns and voice a complaint. Writing a letter might help, but it might take them longer to get back to you, time is of essence.

Try and get them to listen to you. Sometimes you gotta stay on them and not give them much chance to review. TygerLili and I went through this crap before.

We had bed bugs in our apartment and were ready to take any legal action means necessary. Our life was complete utter hell living with these things. Well, for me I was oblivious to it but for her that is another story. We tried remedies, we tried over the counter shit, nothing worked! I remember this bull faced liar promised us he would eradicate the infestation. Lies.

They ignored our request time and time again until I finally put my foot down and we demanded out of our lease.

Best advice to you, stay on them..or find another place to live.
