Guest GodfallenPromos Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 For those that are un-aware, prison isn't the hard-core punishment that it used to be. The stories that you have heard about Premium Cable, Vending Machines, and Access to almost anything are true, from major prison's to county facilities. As an person who has been to jail several times (the majority in MI...cuz your cops don't have anything better to do and they like making money...I will explain this later on), I would like to address issues that I see as a problem. There isn't a single person that goes to jail for over a month and NOT get some kind of "tips n tricks" lesson on how to perform the crime better, whether it be passing drug tests, hiding paraphernalia, theft, etc. Many of the inmates see their time there as a vacation from real life, because they don't have to deal with the dire reality of "damn...I am being punished". The reason is that jail is too comfortable most of the time for them. There are guys in jail right now that have it very easy...they make liquor, control the pod through commisary deals, and live like "kings" because they make deals with the guards. I know...I used to be one of those guys. Prison is even more of a creature comfort to many inmates. They get premium cable, radios, CD players, electric shavers, new clothes from the outside...and more. They are fed beyond even what I, as a former inmate, believes that they should get fed, their punishments for poor behavior is pitiful, and their comforts are too much. Juice fountian machines, vending machines, private cable, even HORSE BACK RIDING for some prisons...HOLY SHYT!!!! When did punishment become a visit to the "Taco Bell Ranch"??? Your in there for punishment, not for creature comforts of home or some hotel. AMERICA!!! STRIP OUT THE JUICE MACHINES... THE HORSES...AND THE CABLE!!!!!! And the Prison systems are a large part of the problem, because of greed. They rake in money left and right...not to support this, but to line pockets, especially these smaller jails, such as MCJ. The Hackel Family (this isn't a rant on them, but using them as a very, close to home example of whats going on), OWN the land that Macomb County Jail is built on...they OWN the vending company that delivers the commisary...they OWN the company that produces the juice and milk the inmates consume....they OWN the farm that all the food is grown on, as well as the bakery where the bread is made. Your average county jail gets money, per day, from county, state, and federal funds, as well as billing the inmates during their stay. It is $20 + dollars a day from County, per prisoner.....$20 + per day from state, per prisoner, and $30 + from federal a day, per prisoner. The counts are outragious, as a per head count can actually come out almost DOUBLE what the jail is ment to hold. When inspectors are called in, many of the prisoners are packed into vans and taken to "court"...what really happens is that they are parked someplace away from the jail, in the van, and not allowed exit...they never go to court...there are removed so that the inspectors don't see the overflow of heads in the prison. It is BEYOND inhuman to pack 4 people in a two man cell for over a period of 48 hours...and it happens ALOT more then you care to think of. I have been one of 28 people packed into a 4x7 space....for a week and a half...with no shower, change of clothes, etc. Being punished is one thing, but that is ungawdly treatment of people. CALL YOUR GOVERNOR...CALL YOUR SENATOR...CALL SOMEONE....GET THIS CHANGED!!!!...MAKE THE PRISON SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE...AND RETURN IT TO BEING PUNISHMENT, NOT A CARRIAGE RIDE!!!!!
