Dog Kept on ‘Ice’

The case of a chilli dog on display at a local convenience store prompted an outraged woman to take action. Cindy Gravelle says she took a big gulp when she spotted a miserable looking pooch in the walk-in cooler, pressing its face up against the glass door, during a milk-run to her local 7-Eleven earlier this week.

Gravelle was doubly disturbed the next day to find the same dog, which appears to be an American Eskimo, in the cooler apparently for safekeeping while its owner worked a shift at the store near Centre St. and McKnight Blvd. N.E.

“Eight hours later it was still in the fridge,” the horrified 41-year-old said yesterday.

“What is wrong with these people?”

Gravelle’s dogged pursuit to rectify the situation led Calgary Humane Society officials to contact the store about the strange pet-keeping practice.

7-Eleven spokesman Alyn Edwards said it was “a discretionary decision” based on “unique circumstances” which will not happen again. It appears the dogs owner thought because it was an Eskimo dog it needed to be kept in very cold surroundings.

There's no way that they are for serioul...

Seriously?

Mike Judge was right....Idiocracy really is happening, faster than he could have probably even thought.

It's a movie EVERYONE needs to see because it's true and happening as we speak.

I blame it on "Reality" TV. I think you have to prove you're dumber than a freakin box of rocks to get on those reality shows. So people the people who watch that stuff can't find China on a map, but they can name every contestant from last season's Flavor of Love.

Yeah corporations also are known for programming ppl into being stupid, let alone its scary that some ppl cannot find America on a globe, some even believe pigs can fly.HollyWood does not help either.

People are stupid because only dumb people are reproducing in large quantities. Smart people know how to use protection and either have less kids or no kids. Dumb people start having kids when they're 13-year-old middle shool drop-outs and have grandkids by the time they're 30. Well, I exaggerated a little on the last comment, but or seriously... It seems that only dumb people are reproducing.

To all the smart people on here: Start having more kids! j/k

Probably the same Mike Judge that created "Beavis and Butthead" in the 90's.

Yeap, Beavis and Butthead, Office Space, King of the Hill and then the latest was Idiocracy. A bit different than some of his other stuff, not too far, but scary because it's starting to become true .

people don't read anything anymore. I work at a community center and and we put up signs for things and people still ask us things a million times. There will be a huge sign over my head that says pool closed but tons of people still will ask if the pool is open. I think alot of people settle for not gaining more knowledge in their lives. I do agree on the reality show thing. Tila tequila's show is beyond sophmoric in nature and makes people dumber. I admit i watch the show on occasion. I switch to the history channel on commercials though so i hope it cancels the stupidity. Tila is cute though.

People certainly don't know how to read signs, that's for sure. You can put up a sign that says "Hey, fuck me in the ass while I rape a decayed roadkill corpse, plz, THANKS!!!11one!!1" on the front door of an elementary school or on the front gate of Disney World and no one would notice.

People are so used to having everything spoon-fed to them, and it's something they start learning in elementary school. Most classes I teach require me to sit there and break everything down for them, especially on worksheets and assignments. Since I'm not a permanent teacher, I can't really do anything about it but go with the flow. I've only been in one class (this was in Riverview) where the kids told me that I was not allowed to read them the directions because their teacher "wanted them to learn how to read directions on their own." They were second graders with higher intelligence and maturity levels than most adults I've met, seriously. I still haven't met this teacher in person, but I'd really love to tell her what a good job she's doing in teaching her students to be independent thinkers. It's a shame that more teachers aren't like this!

I drives me nuts even more when you say something over and over, and yet people still ask the same questions. It happens in the elementary schools I work in, but that's something I'd expect from little kids. When I worked in Disney World, no one could listen to anything, especially the adults. I could take a loudspeaker and say, "Someone give me a long thug dick to suck" and literally no one would notice. I understand that people are excited in a place like that, but come on, be at least 1% aware of your surroundings.

/end long rant

To make a long story short (yeah, too late), I think the reason why most adults are annoyingly stupid is because they are not taught properly when they're kids. Kids will be kids, so it's up to adults to guide kids in the right direction; however, when adults are major fucking morons, then that makes this task near impossible.

This is so true when I was in 9th grade my science teacher tried to tell me the Troposphere was the hottest layer of the atmosphere. Put it this way if that were true we'd all be burnt to a crisp. The hottest layer of the atmosphere is the Thermosphere... Someone else once tried to tell me the CORE of the Earth was the hottest layer of the atmosphere... The core of the Earth isn't even part of the atmosphere it's the BIOSPHERE!!!! I mean...C'mon ppl u should have been taught these things in like 4th grade...

The American system of education is a petty excuse of teaching kids/teenagers. Coming from Europe, I was stunned when I came here in 7th grade. Kids were still learning 4th grade math in 7th grade... science was a total joke, so was English, History was a total repetition of the same old crap from like 7th to 12th grade(nothing beyond the American History and World War too). I passed all my schooling without opening a book. My high school GPA was 4.2 due to my advanced placement classes.

Now in the European system, you have to have chemistry and physics by the 7th grade. You learn English as a language in the 5th grade and no it's not optional (for me it was easy I knew it when I was 5 years old), you have to take Art,Music,Gym,History,Biology,Math,Geography all through out middle and high school no EXCEPTIONS!!! They teach you the continents and different cities, so when someone says I am from Brazil, you wont respond is that near Nigeria? The desire to learn is decreasing tremendously, I mean we have a drug addict/alcoholic president what else can we achieve when our leaders are useless. I really don't know if it's the government or society that has done this over time to manipulate a nation that is so large so there will be no uprising against the government..

I do appologize for ranting on and on.. but I REALLY HATE THAT IGNORANCE!!!!!

(05-15) 10:36 PDT Lake Luzerne, N.Y. (AP) --

A young man shot himself without using a gun.

Damion M. Mosher, who put bullets in a vise and whacked them with a hammer to empty the brass shell casings, was hit in the abdomen by one of the shots, authorities said.

Warren County deputies said they were called to Mosher's home in Lake Luzerne on Saturday afternoon after one bullet went about a half-inch into his abdomen. He was treated at Glens Falls Hospital and was released. No charges were filed.

Mosher, 18, told authorities he was trying to empty the .223-caliber rounds to collect the brass casings for scrap.

Sheriff Larry Cleveland said about 100 other rounds that Mosher hit had "fizzled," but one was somehow sent with more force. It was unclear if the bullet ricocheted or hit him directly.

An employee of an Albany scrap metal company told The Post-Star of Glens Falls that the business pays $1.70 a pound for scrap brass shell casings.

Cleveland said Mosher's shells amounted to just a few pounds.

Lake Luzerne, at the southeastern edge of the Adirondacks, is 45 miles north of Albany.
