What are your good points and bad points on society these days?

I prefer IMO to be around people who are very much themselves not fakes

Like Carlin mentioned in one of his skits,he hates groups of people,but loves them individually.

and he hates wannabe's.I myself are not the "I love everyone type" thats a no no.

because IMO most people suck,and are dishonest.

There is nothing wrong with hating someone because they are a P.O.S.asshole, at least its hate for a reason.

In this day and age you cannot even say "Hi" some some stranger without getting your life threatened.in the 70's I thought people were a hell of a lot nicer.

When it comes to Government and Society its a coin toss of what is worse.

In government you have a lot of corruption and stupid laws etc etc etc, in society you a lot of people fucked up in the head.(serial killers molesters,identity thieves,etc etc etc.

The only good thing I see in society are my family,friends,people I work with,and the ones who go way out of their way to actually help someone.everything else is f$#ked up.IMO.

You should be out for yourself. I mean you're born into this world alone and you will die alone. I don't completely trust everyone, I put faith, but that will only go so far. The economy sucks, and it will continue to get worse as I don't see any miracles oracles being made. It should be noted that everyone has their own opinion, some hope for change while right now it seems to bleek to me to even think that it's going to get any better.

Really, with society... It's lost alot of it's values that it used to have. You can see someone on the side of the road, with a busted tire, and nobody comes to help them. The homeless numbers are rising due to the loss of jobs (all sent over seas) and the governments lack of giving a genuine fuck about the citizens that keep them in power. Nobody is willing to help anyone else out anymore. Most of society has this anarchy trend going where it's every man for himself. The fact that we elected a total fucking tool as president... twice.. says alot for it's self about the sad state we are in. Instead of wanting to find real solutions to problems, I find that we are in a frenzied rat race to focus on everything but the real issue, forgetting the real problems while they fester and grow until it's too late. People tend to go for the most meaningless ideas that are devoid of any coherent relavence to any problems we face. Instead, you have a trend of plastic puppets obsessed with looks and forgetting the true worth of a genuine human life. You see these people spreading like cockroaches, so obsessed at being the most "beautiful", sassiest, hippest, ect.. while selling out any true meaning to their life just to fufill the void by delusionally beliving that they must be desired by everyone and to pretend they're too good for people.

you want to know why you always see the "hottest" girls with the biggest assholes? It's because they've sold themselves out so terribly for their superficial looks, there is no worth to them as a person on the inside. Deep down inside they know this, and they know they're nothing better than that peice of shit they're whoring themselves out to. Though they'll never admit this.. truth hurts after all.

I could go on but I really don't wanna spark up too much more trouble.

Really broad subject. The state of the human condition is something i think about often, and will try not to write a 15 page novel about. LOL

In general, from a historical perspective, society is better off now (globally and i'm talking on the order of decades/centuries, not just in the USA or just say this year) than it has been in any previous age in terms of longevity and freedom.

The key concern now, again globally and on a historical timescale, is our massive advance in weapons technology. The average joe is far better of now than he has ever been, but he is also a bigger crybaby and also has (potentially) much easier access to hardcore weapons that (could, but haven't yet) trigger a global, chain reaction of devastation never seen before.

I read an article that says that the basic state of the world tends to be (fairly) limited in violence but then something triggers large-scale war and we have a huge (short term) death toll spike, larger than any previously in history as a graph starting in the earliest historical times. It went though the list of war and war related deaths. So far, disease and famine and such have claimed more lives than war ever has. But, the theory goes that the next big blow-out will be on the order of 100s of millions of deaths, and the next one beyond that might be global.

So short term things are better than ever in history, longer term its a huge question mark.

One of the theories about why we have yet to (really) meet any other civilizations (ET) is that before they get tech logically advanced enough to come visit, they destroy themselves. Not that i buy into it, just something that popped into mind randomly.

Though i must admit the last part of that goes to a muse of mine. upon hooking up with corps esctacy, i was written a message on myspace from one of these plastic puppet chicks going "omg how the hell could someone like her date someone like you?!?!" now i know i'm not a perfect model, however i know i'm hot none the less. I've been thinking about this lately myself.

Especially since the girls have been born I have become VERY VERY frightened.

On the one hand, the world seems a much kinder, gentler more accepting place than I ever knew. When I go on a walk with the girls, neighbors COME OUT OF THEIR HOUSES to say hi. I've lived here five years, and I have met more people in the last seven months than in the entire five years previous.

The people at church positively light up when they see the babies. There's coffee and donuts afterwards and people practically trip over eachother offering to get us the coffee, or hold the girls while we go get it ourselves. Even when I'm out shopping with the girls, people open the door for us (not sure if it's because they're nice or because they realize that until I get the truck through the door, they're not going anywhere either, but I'm going to pick nice). And then of course my family and friends have been overwhelmingly kind to the girls.

Now here's the other side of the coin.

I see the television. I know what else is out there. And the phrase 'the wolves are at the door' has never resonated more.

I'm frightened. I see how little we value human life - there's a belief, and I think it's more pronounced in America than elsewhere, than your worthiness is determined by your usefulness. That unless you can 'do' something, that you're wasting space. And that, my friends, is a very, very dangerous place for a scoiety to be.

I think all people really can do these days is try to be good people.

I try to treat people as I like to be treated.

I think its pointless to worry about things that are beyond our control.

It's true that in alot of ways society has taken a turn for the worse.

I have noticed that in some areas, some people have an "its all about me" type attitude.

We can't control everyone, how we act as people, is however we choose to act.

Alot of how society is today has to do with how we were raised I think.

If a person was raised well, in a good upbringing, it shows.

If a person was raised in a household where the parents parked them in front of the tv, instead of hangin out with them, it shows.

I think shows like Jerry Springer, that make it seem ok to do bad things, is definitely a contributor to the crappy side of society today.

The older i get the more and more i am ashamed of being a part of the human race honestly humans are judgemental, flawed, and just plain wrong. the best advice i can give is to be who you are and love yourself and love those that do the same. keep your head right and your eyes open. we live in a frightening society and its just going to get worse

The "socialist" aspect of National Socialism was just a cute catch phrase that sounded good to the masses of poor people that were their base. Hitler nor most of what became the inner circle couldn't have card less about socialism other than its usefulness as a political propaganda tool. Smallish government, free markets, I want way less government control and "safety regulations" way less handouts for both business and citizens etc.. I'm all for that anti-socialist type stuff. I WISH Hitler was clearly more socialist, would make my anti-socialism arguments easier. (Although pulling the Nazi card is , i feel almost always a scare tactic rather than a real argument for or against something)

Communism was something he couldn't stand , which is brand-name socialism with atheism mixed in. He cared about manifest destiny and consolidation of power, the few people in the party that did care about socialism were marginalized once they outgrew their usefulness. One of the many reasons given against the jews was they rejected the Christ, that is, they believed in the wrong god, not that they didn't believe in god at all.

I guess your defining the left as "instruments of extremist change" and that the status quo would be "right wing"? The underlying ideas of much of the social evils are leftist sounding, but the engine that allows them to happen are right-wing in a very broad sense. Not sure that's a left or right issue, that's a extremist of one side or the other believing they have ultimate knowledge. Using violence to push it through the rest of society in one way or another in some extreme form, regardless of the original ideology or propaganda.

There is a cyclical nature to the human condition but the overall trend so far, in any measurable way i can come up with, is a positive trend. With lots of ups and downs in that trend but positive nonetheless. I think at some point though , unless we get off this rock, tech will outstrip our ability to ethically use and control it and cause a global catastrophe. We need to GTFO of dodge. Not sure when that needs to happen but it does , eventually.
