I so wanna go but Redford is so very far!

I will try to make it out sometime though, obviously this first night would be a little outta the question...

wow hun if redford is so far away I gotta ask. What isn't? If necto is too far away and redford is too far away what are you looking for a bar 5 min for your house. Most people can afford to drive more than 10 min round trip to go clubbing. Not to mock you but most bars you say is too far away. It's a bit funny.

I drive 3 hours when I go so I don't wanna hear any whining about driving 20 minutes or so!

(just kidding - not everyone is insane like me).

Only time I drive more then 45 min one way is when I have a show that night....or it's a concert with a band I've done work with.

I am sympathetic to Cher's motives....I mean, Jinx...it's not like your gonna run ALL the way to the I-rock if I had shows every week....or even to NY/NY...right?

You gonna run up to Saginaw for a show every week?...or Traverse City every week??....no...and thats respectable, specially with gas the way it is right now. Would it be nice if everyone had the money for that...YEAH...but they don't...and thats cool...I'm sure that if it was something that she REALLY wanted to see....or just to go once in a while, Cher would go....hell...lots of people would....but to just go for going's sake, every week...nay...can't say I would do that either...and I gotta say I'm a LITTLE offended that your holding it against her like that...or for ppl like her in general...

Anything over 30 minutes is too far for me...and Redford is definately like 45 minutes from my house.

If it's more than a half hour away, it better be a crazy-ass good club, or maybe a once a year thing.

Luna & CC are 20 minutes (or less) away from where I live, so they're the ones that get my business.

I will admit though that I still haven't checked out Disintegration Disco on Thursdays even though it's literally right next to me (maybe 10 minute drive).

If only we had a real public transit system here, thanks to the UAW and a few others for that not happening.

Ditto, but I just didn't say anything. Not the thread topic itself, but how he stated it kinda got to me just a weeee little bit. But only a little. It's not horribly upsetting obviously or I would ask you to edit it...

Only because you're is probably pissed due to the fact that I don't want to spend $30 in travel to go to Necto...well that's tough. I'm not driving more than an hour to go to a club unless it's a special event, and with the economy/gas prices, I'm sure there's plenty of Eastsiders in the same boat as I am. That's why a lot of us are rooting for Asylum Mondays, about time we had something to do on Monday nights! It has nothing to do with Necto itself, but just the location.

Not only don't you know where I live you don't have any idea about my financial situation, so please don't assume things.

I have a public Transit system...it's called "friends with cars"....and I don't even have to pay gas money...cuz I use this for concerts n stuff...and since they don't have to pay money to get into concerts and special events....kinda evens out....lol

Really? I didn't know that. You mean dead like nobody goes or dead like they don't even have it anymore?

Oh and the carpool thing? I guess I'd go, that would pretty much be the only way I went.

But now that there's a club night in Detroit on Mondays, there's no real need for me to ever go to Necto. Also, I like Detroit as a city more than I like Ann Arbor. A2 just isn't my kind of place, lived there for six months, it has cool shopping and the arcade rules (they have like five DDR machines) but the people (the ones I've met) generally tended to be kinda stuck up and snobby.

Also, Raven has to be up and at work at 9am on Tuesdays. An hour twenty minute drive to Necto, there and back, seems a bit much compaired to just driving down to the Prive in order to pop in, make an appearance, have a few drinks, and chill in the VIP room, then be back home by 12:00-1:00am.

Oh yeah...and I also get access to the VIP room, so that's gonna be totally sweet.

As proof... I grew up in Ann Arbor....

A2 is far for many estsiders and it doesn't bother me at all that you haven't been to Necto. Why would it? You do often say that most places are too far to drive though. I have seen you post that several times over several topic's in the past. After this week they are moving Asylum Mondays to Tuesday starting next week whick rocks because now I can go next week. Anyone else who wants to go I'll be carpooling.

It got moved to Tuesdays? That's good, so there won't be any more of the Monday night conflict.

But yes, most places are too far to drive to, especially if it's a half hour away or more.

Over a half hour, 20 minutes or so for me...drinks and narcalepsy....nope. Gas prices...for a concert yah...not for a bar.

Sometimes I am just so happy that my wife and I can go out that the distance doesn't seem to matter ....

Seriously...('nother thread)...It does tend to depend on whoever has enough mercy in their hearts to drive my ass.....

I refuse to drive due to a 'glych' in my head...and it scares people when I try...

Delerium's touring in Sept./Oct., and if they aren't coming here, I'll drive to Cleveland or take MegaBus to Chicago. Train to T-O would rule, too.

Necto is 45-60 minutes away for me. I LOVE Necto, but only make it a few times a year. That has more to do with my heavy dance addiction / day job thing though. I can't leave until the music stops and then I have an hours drive home.... and work comes early when you're all old like me. :p

Posted

i use to go see my freind that lives an hour away from me by ann arbor take her to city club drive her home and then go home so yeah 5 hours of driving in one day!!!!!!!!

Posted

Well, CC is kind of a long commute for me, as you may well imagine. :stuart:

I live 5 minutes away and dont go all that often... <sigh> when I was on unemployment, i swore that I would go... but usually forgot.

i dont have any more excuses... i think I must have gotten too old or something. I just spend my time reading.

Take tonight for instance. I have to deal not with the dilemma of what to wear at CC... no i have something far worst to deal with. What do I read?

1. "First In"

2. Chief of Station: Congo

3. Conquest (Cortez and the Aztechs

4. SOG

5. Porn...

ok 5 is a joke... you dont "read" porn... unless its foreign and you really really really really want to know what the plot is about and can manage to read subtitles and not gouge your eyes out with forks... ever see translated foreign porn dialog? Terrible. Truely terrible. If you think American porn plots are bad... wait until you see what happens with a Rumanian "director" tries to coax a plot out of 3-4 strung out russian "actors" (prostitutes) and a few AWOL russian special forces guys (or weight lifters)... but I digress.

anyway, I am too lazy (or preoccupied) with being old to remember to go to the necto and I live a mile away (well maybe two miles as "THE STUCK UP ANN ARBOR PERSON FLYS IN THEIR PERSONAL DIAMOND ENCRUSTED JET PACK THAT POOR PEOPLE WHO DONT LIVE IN ANN ARBOR DONT HAVE"....

I really appreciate being lumped in with a few snobby rich college students. I feel sorry for anyone who spends time in ann arbor and cant figure out how to avoid snobby rich students. Its pretty simple

1. Dont hang out in stupid trendy places where they hang out.

2. Laugh at them for being less cool than you when they drive by in their luxery sport sedan

3. get over yourself

Rant off....

I think Ill disappear again for a year or so. (reminds me of why I dont come on here much any more... <---- was my answer to the automated message asking me why I dont log in anymore.
