Hellion Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 This is a shitty example of how apathetic people have now become. This is not a rant but something to think about. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080605/ap_on_...LK2E1dl.C2s0NUE
Oh_My_Goth Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 It is hard to feel when everything is so rough.....
Guest GodfallenPromos Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I counted 6-7 cars that passed right by....my props go to the motorcycle guy...who turned around and went to see what happened....*shivers*...it's nuts..but it happens.
creatureofthenyte Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 yeah, that was fucked up. I can't really form anymore words then that.
Angel of Death Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 this...is why I hate most people no concern for others what-so-ever
Rev.Reverence Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 ..in this city of 125,000... The hit-and-run is the second violent crime to shock Hartford this week. On Monday, former Deputy Mayor Nicholas Carbone, 71, was beaten and robbed while walking to breakfast. He remains hospitalized and faces brain surgery. In Detroit...we deal with that before noon...EVERYDAY! I'm just sayin' it cause you told me to think.....THAT was my thought... PEACE CODS
EAF (1) Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Haha i've been seeing this kind of crap for years...what scares me even more though is I see it in kids...and it gets worse with every generation I see... (and yeah I know i'm not that old...but thats my point! If these kids are only a little younger than me and i'm noticing it...then something is definitaly geting fucked up.)
Goth Brooks Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 When the law allows an injured person to sue a "good samaritan" for "improper" emergency first aid, this sets the tone for people to cover their own asses at the expense of an injured person. And good samaritan laws only cover you so far. My job training has stated that we can only give the first aid we have been certified to give. If I were to treat someone for injuries I haven't been properly trained/certified for (whether in the course of my job, or on my own), I would open myself up to a suite. Personally, I believe in the old traditions of someone being indebted to a person that saves their life. I probably would have given that man, or anyone, emergency medical treatment to save life and limb. However, if they tried to sue me for it, I would take that treatment back, even if it put me in jail. But then I'm just an asshole.

TygerLili Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I think people are afraid to step forward and be the leader in a situation like this. Some of it is probably from shell-shock, some of it may be from a fear of not knowing what to do, and potentially making the situation worse for one's self or others, but I think the majority of people think to themselves "Someone else who is better qualified/calmer/a better leader/more heroic will handle this." I mean, apathy or not, how much time and effort would it take to whip out your cell phone and call 911? I think any of us could do that, but most don't, because we assume it's someone else's job to do so...I have no idea why.
