My pal, The Sad Old Goth, turned me on to this photographer, Jan Blok. Made even my black and shrunken heart skip a beat, but then, I'm a sucker for a pretty face. Prolly shouldn't view these at work, but there's nothing really naughty there either...

Some nice stuff... but I think a lot of them are too overtly (And overly) Photoshopped.

And while I am a fan of straight photography, I also enjoy photo manipulation, as long as something of the original pic is retained. I didn't see any pieces that were completely photoshopped beyond recognition. I also thought the softenss of many of the portraits was a good thing. Fantastic hair, outfits, and make-up, too!!

Perusing through, I saw many pics that I would love to have on my walls!

And there's a Hot Goth Chicks thread?!?! Must find it!! lol

It's not so much that they're manipulated... it's that I can tell what filter was used. Whether subtle or overt, the artist should try to make the choice of tools a bit of a mystery.

I like photoshoped pics..

but I also like to see the non-touched pics side by side with the touched pics. Makes me feel better about myself as a human that no one really looks THAT good. No one. heh

I think I've said this before, but I NEVER leave a photo unaltered in some way. Mostly they're just small corrections to color or exposure but some need a bit more then that or I'm pushing things artistically.
