If we went out it would probley be a thursday night. Thanks again everyone, Ugpdfw Thursdays are really fun nights at Luna!! They play all kinds of 80's music, so you could be dancing to Men Without Hats one minute, and Michael Jackson the next, lol And as far as City goes, I agree, just get there early for close parking, and you'll be fine. Lots of good lighting about now

I just wanted to see how the scene was up in Detroit while im there for the first time.

Jordan Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Where abouts in Dallas? I have family in The Colony. Im about 20mins from the Colony( grapevine), the church is alright. There is a new club that does fridays called panopitkon at the old club seven. Went there for the first time on friday, I liked it alot better. THe church is kind clique- e . Ive been going there since 95 or 96, not regularly but semi often. The music is great, most of the people are good. For the most part you get an older crowd that isnt like the normal friday and sat nights. I use to love the lizard lounge, they always have the best djs , but you cant get past the 16yrs that some how get in, always rolling and just a mess.( sorry rant) Id say, the church is good though Id check out Panapitkon at Cirque if I was in town on a friday.
hunhee Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 sounds fun - Club luna. we will be there all week but I am guessing the people we are visiting are not really into that kind of scene. oh well. I just wanted to see how the scene was up in Detroit while im there for the first time. Luna is in Royal Oak, that is a really great area to hang out, for young, and old. Great eye candy in that area. Would be a fun area to stay in while you're in town. I don't know where your family is, but I'd choose to stay around there or Troy, where your Gym is. Troy has a lot of good things going for it, also a young town.. great shopping and every great restaurant you could think of. Troy isn't far from Royal Oak, so that's there to be considered as well. Ann Arbor is also great for hanging out and activities, or just walking around looking at the sites. Necto is there as well. As for City Club, I've never felt unsafe in that neck of the woods, I've gone there several times myself.. but I guess I could see where others may feel unsafe. The casino is bringing up the real estate in that area, but the actual building/block has a lot to work on. They're getting there. I think it also adds to the ambiance of the club. Why people are saying get there early, I have no clue.. when you leave, it's going to be late. *shrugs* doesn't make sense.. unless they're thinking they'll be semi drunk by this point and don't care as much about the surroundings, when they leave. EDIT TO SAY: Oh wait, maybe they're saying this so that you have a chance of parking in the lot. I feel less safe there than I would on the street personally, if I have to get out in an emergency, I don't have to wait for stupid people who park in the lanes blocking me in. Just my opinion.
n0Mad Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Necto - MondayPrive - Tuesday Lab - Wed (same building as city club) City Club - Fri & Saturday You forgot Mephistos on Wednesday and sometimes it's a good pre-club on Fridays and Saturdays on your way to City. I've never been to Prive but reading that word I can't help but say "privy" which is a bathroom. Kinda soils it for me, pun intended.
Fin Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 From "Big D" to "The D," eh? Welcome! Don't let Detroit city rumours steer you away from CityClub. You'll have a good time. All are welcome, especially those with an open mind. Necto Ann Arbor Mondays. Prive Tuesdays. Mephisto's Wednesdays. Luna Thursdays. CityClub Fri & Sat. Sleep or church on Sunday. Those would be my votes.

EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Think of it this way...IF you go to City Club you will get to meet us all ^_^
Jordan Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Think of it this way...IF you go to City Club you will get to meet us all ^_^ Well its always nice to know where to go and people before hand, esp. if you have never been to the city.
EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 If you feel as if your a little lost when you come to City Club, I would advise just looking at some member pictures in their galleries that way if we can't find you, you can find us . We don't mind having people just come and say Hello .. Enjoy your stay in Detroit!
TygerLili Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Welcome! Any of the clubs mentioned are fine if you just want to hang out with your friends. If you want to meet people City Club on Saturday night is your best bet. The rest of clubs/nights you usually can't find more than half a dozen of us out and about. Also, if you want to people-watch City is probably your best bet, with Necto as a close second. The smaller clubs usually don't have much in the way of interesting outfits. My boyfriend and I were in your area a couple years ago. We really wanted to check out one of the clubs around there, but we were staying with his family who thought it was more important for us to sit around the house every night. If we ever go back I am SO renting a car and staying in a hotel.
Jordan Posted June 12, 2008 Author Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks Tyger, We thought about a hotel, but the family just wasent happy if we were not staying with them. ** Update ** we are staying in these cities : Deerborn heights, Romules Canton, Westland & last few days Beverly Hills We do have a car, we didnt want to have to wait on anyone and wanted to have the freedom of going and checking things out on our own. Since Ive never been to the D, is there anything worth checking out? anything that really stands out or a cant miss attraction? I dont know how much time we are going to get, but I wanted to check before hand. ( I know it sounds cheesy, but I wanted a picture of me and the town of Hell) ok Im a tourist! Again, thanks everyone. Yall ( im from Tx) have been so nice and its always great to be able to walk into a town or a new club that we havent been to before and people make it feel like family.
EnViOuSPoPpEt Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Were from Dearborn Heights, so that Sat. if were going to City we might be able to give you a ride ^_^.
