Authorities found the book "Internet for Dummies" at a home of a 15-year-old boy who admitted hacking into the Little Chute School District's computers. "He was self-taught and self-motivated in that regard," said Lt. Ray Lee of the Fox Valley Metro Police Department. The boy, a student at Little Chute High School, faces a juvenile criminal charge and school discipline, he said. "He was questioned and he confessed to hacking into the computers," Lee said. The district called in a vendor to make repairs, according to documents filed Feb. 26 in Outagamie County Circuit Court. The district determined its computers had been accessed from an outside computer and traced the source to the 15-year-old's home. A subpoena of Internet provider Time Warner Cable's records also traced the source to the teen's home, the documents said. Authorities seized the computer and the book from the boy's home last week. The district took down its entire computer system to make several thousand dollars worth of repairs after the hacking, Lee said. __ Information from: The Post-Crescent, http://www.postcrescent.com ___ Information from: The Post-Crescent, http://www.postcrescent.com
Vater Araignee Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Gates has nothing to do with how Microsoft is currently run. He should keep profiting of the lazy any way because they pay for his philanthropy where as they could not. Why do I say lazy? Because I can think of ten alternative operating systems off the top of my head. One proprietary (there by even more evil) computer system that doesn't use Microsoft. Then there is always pirating so you can afford to buy that book two, three, four times over. Wanna really save some money? Buy a how to build computers for dummies or start a thread asking for help. Hell ask me. With a few details about your comp a price limit and a few hours on tiger direct you could get hooked up.
