Two things...

Not all tattoos are "an artistic means of expressing one's spirituality". Some people get them because everyone else is getting them. Some get them to remember someone, something or some event. Some are just to show membership in some group.

It's not just Judiac cultures that frown on Tattoos. Japan is a good example.

i dont have tatoo's.

i'm a regular blood donor and if i had a tatoo i would not b able to give blood

thats actually slightly incorrect...you cannot give blood for a YEAR after ink work...I got 3 tattoos, and I am allowed to give plasma and donate blood.

also...Japan didn't USED to be like that, until the emergance of the modern Yakuza....Samurai, feudal lords, and even common soldiers used to have tats as a sign of recognition....Ninja used them sometimes for getting into secret meetings, and there were even tribal tattoos for certian tribes in pre-feudal Japan.
