Well lets see...

1. Had some beers with Urge Overkill after a show. We got backstage because a friend of ours who had died recently and covered alot of UO and we told them about it and they invited us back to listen. They were very laid back and it was VERY cool.

2. Tori Amos - Once, got asked back for meet & Greet back when she has the girls with the black angel wings giving out passes. I think it was the Choirgirl Hotel tour. She's wonderful. Like a little fairy woman who hugs everyone.

3. Evenescence. Knew the owner of the club through the owner of the club that I worked at. Not impressed. They were very stuck up and Amy kept going on about her ex.

4. Type O Negative: Got backstage twice. I have no idea how. They just asked me! Both were Grand Rapids shows and I think I must have just looked more extreme than alot of the GR girls. They are really cool guys. Peter Steele seemed alittle aloof. No, I did not see his 3 balls, but he is a HUGE guy overall.

5. Gwar!! I was fed to The World Maggot and ended up backstage. Those guys are totally awesome to hang with. It was like a frat party... with goo.

6. Like half of Skinny Puppy. They were wasted at CC after their last show. Not much said. They seemed cool.

I have met a few, but this is the only one that matters:

ROBERT SMITH :swoon

Not much for this kinda thing, but let's see what I can remember:

Everybody who was onstage at last Friday's Delerium show, apart from Sean & Brian from Delerium. Bill Leeb's a really interesting and humble guy, Kristy's far more bubbly and outgoing than her lyrics would suggest and Ashwin just owned the f-ing place. Elsiane was a sweetie...and sarah Fimm walked off with my heart. :swoon

Tuomas & Marco from Nightwish...probably the biggest band on this list; they're a club/small theater-level band here, but worldwide, they're at SOAD/Tool levels of popularity.

Roddy Woomble from Idlewild - straightforward, no BS. Almost no Scottish accent, oddly enough, being as he's from there.

Stuart(RIP), Bruce and Tony from Big Country. Funniest fuckers I've ever met, hands down.

Tina and Susan from Switchblade Symphony. Tina was so outgoing - at their 1st show here, she was talking to some girl, and the girl mentioned that her friends wanted to meet her but they were too shy. Tina got a waitresse's tray and half a dozen beers and took the beers up to the balcony to meet them!

Sam & Lisa from Black Tape.

Johnny from Human Drama.

Tony Levin and Bill Bruford from King Crimson. Bruford's a party all by himself - he had everybody rolling with laughter.

Mike, Rocky and Robert from Suicidal Tendencies. Great guys, one and all.

I know there's more; if they come to mind, I'll post them.

Rabbit in the Moon, albeit briefly

Voltaire (got a great story about that)

Bow Ever Down (they performed at a club I helped)

Indigo Girls (they are very short)

Isaac Stern (one of the premier violinists of the 20th century. Even got to hold and play one of his Stradivarius (briefly))

I'm only including those who I have actually talked with for a reasonable amount of time (not just getting an autograph) and those who have some national recognition (and aren't friends of mine).

So: that leaves ONE:

MC Chris

He completely blew me off and seemed to just want me to go away. If I had tackled him while he was eating dinner or walking down the street - it would make total sense. However, he was BEHIND A BOOTH at a convention. The whole point of him being there at all was to meet fans and promote his music. The other guy working the booth was really friendly and nice. MC Chris just hid behind a TIME magazine and kept saying, "Thanks for stopping by" - as if he really just wanted me to leave. I was pretty let down and frankly a little pissed.

I bought a couple CDs (especially since my friend is a big fan) and got them signed. I listened to the CDs on the way home and suddenly it made sense. His other work (NOT the Adult Swim stuff) is basically a bunch of narratives about how much of a social misfit he is and how much difficulty he had in school. I realized that he may have simply been TERRIFIED of me!

I've only met one or two people who have actually been *fans* of mine. It's actually kinda weird and scary. One actually fixated on one of my songs for days - he said he couldn't get it out of his head. I'm really not sure how I would react to having a LARGE following. (Never going to happen - so I guess I don't have to worry.) :)

***

List for shits:

Disturbed

That1guy

Die Symphony

Paul Lansky

Cruciform Injection

Phallus Uber Alles

Hobert Europe

Realicide

SICKNESS

Noiseman433

Will Soderberg

PBK

8-Bit Porno

(and more noise acts than you WANT me to list)

***

PORN STARS is a different thread starter. I will refrain from listing all of the porn stars I have met here. :) But yeah, by all accounts Ron Jeremy is actually a really friendly nice guy. ( I was actually kinda sad that his molded penis didn't sell better. It was too expensive, I think.)

OH WOW - When I read that the first time I read "tried" (which I assume you meant "tired") as tied. It created an entirely new connotation to what was going on there.

You also made me remember that I got my breast signed by the male front-person of Girl Scout Hand Grenade (which was pretty sweet). We were basically being silly. I've met "Exit Mind Bomb" as well - but at this point I am heading from quasi-semi-national to most certainly local.

He is going to be in Flint this Saturday night. I hope to have a chance to say hello and get an autograph. I've heard he's an interesting fellow.

Ok. These ones all have back stories, thus I shall list them.

All of the guys from Stromkern. (They're pretty awesome and much fun to hang out with.)

All of the guys from Psyclon Nine.

Jared from Chemlab.

Daniel from Aesthetic Perfection.

I'm sure there are more that I have just met and briefly talked to, but I do not count them on this list.

Not too many considering I'm old and I go to ALOT of shows...

My favorite would have to be Rogue from The Cruxshadows. The guy is total sweetheart. Also met Brittany Bindam from I:Scintilla, she's incredibly funny.

Met Henry Rollins last month, he was cool.

my goal is to meet Tim Armstrong though.

I haven't had too many opportunities, except for when I took Sierra to meet Tokio Hotel at an autograph signing. They were really nice.

Sierra had home-made cookies and milk with Dave Grohl and his Mom. Both kids have met Smashmouth, The Goo Goo Dolls, and others. They call Art Alexakis of Everclear "Uncle Artie."

Oh...wait. The members of Lacuna Coil said hi to me in passing at Ozzfest, and the same day, I shot pics of 2 of my friends with Zakk Wylde.
