14-year old girl stands trial for "rape".

It's nice of people to automatically believe the girl without a shred of evidence.

So sorry, but the story is too fishy.

Fishy to you, maybe. I guess you don't think much of "innocent until proven guilty"?

The story isn't so much about the girl, as the law. Either way, the court's will determine who's "innocent". I suspect, as is often the case, that it takes two to tango, and there's some amount of responsibility on both parties.

Actually you're wrong. I believe that the boy is innocent until proven guilty. I'm just extremely cynical when it comes to young girls crying rape.

And before charges were laid, especially in a case where ONE of them was guilty of rape, the detectives did plenty of background interviews.

Either they had sex consensually, where the girl is guilty. Or the boy forced her, in which case the BOY is guilty and the girl is innocent, no matter what his age.

And you're right, it's the court's ball now.

Here's another problem, and the reason men are so quick to disbelieve a girl when she "cries" rape....which trust me...if she was raped....She's fucking crying.

Men never believe that THEY raped someone. Unless your some guy lurking in the bushes....no NO NO NO NO NO RAPIST believes he is a rapist.

I'm not saying this is for sure, but by your blatant disrespect of a RAPE VICTIM (alleged or NOT)....I don't think its far off to assume maybe a few of you guys on here could have been accused before.

THAT is why the rape laws are so fucked up. People who rape, often find a way to justify it, or find reasons that it wasn't rape. "Well, I convinced her...and she LET me....so its not rape." Well when a girl gets put into an unwanted sexual position, most guys unfortunately have an unfair advantage of being sometimes bigger and tougher....its not very difficult to SCARE a girl into having sex....which means its rape. A VERBAL NO is all that is required. If you don't stop after that....its rape.

I'm not saying that girls out there don't lie about rape. But you'd probably be surprised at how many DO NOT....

But I will say FROM EXPERIENCE....that when people make assumptions about you when you say you've been raped...and they find reasons not to believe you, logical or not, it takes its toll on you.

You don't have to believe her, but jumping to the conclusion that she's lying and talking shit about a little girl WHO MAY HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN RAPED...its just wrong.

I understand that girls lie about it SOMETIMES.....but WHAT IF....WHAT IF you're wrong.

If the girl cried rape to the counselor, they would have been duty bound to report it to the police.

If the counselor cried rape to the police, they would have been duty bound to investigate.

If the investigation turned up even a SHRED of evidence supporting the claim, it would have been the BOY being charged, not the girl.

AGE makes absolutely no difference.

The law also states that a teacher having sex with a student is rape, so why then aren't teachers who have been raped by students charged?

And I'm sorry, but as a guy I feel a LOT differently about what constitutes rape. Girls aren't the ones that have to worry about the stigmata that forever tarnishes a guy's reputation, even with a false accusation of rape.

If I force myself on you, that's rape. If I drug you unconscious, that's rape. Everything else is debatable.

"Well, I convinced her...and she LET me....so its not rape."

That's pretty much how EVERY sexual encounter goes.

As a VERY happily married dude...I must concur.

So you have to convince your wife to have sex?

See it's hard NOT to jump to the conclusion that a girl is being a drama queen when it seems to be the trend for every freaking girl to have her own sad sob story of rape.. and i mean EVERY FREAKING GIRL. I hear it so much that I can tell the difference between a "pity me" act, and one who's actually raped. But there's a third majority.. the one's that are ashamed of who they layed down with, or are just too fucking uptight about sex to begin with...

It's not fucking rocket science, if they guy doesn't stop at no, don't give in, get the fuck out. If there's not claw marks and obvious physical harm of being forced into it.. IT'S NOT RAPE..

People either need to stop being a pussy and actually stand their ground, or just put up with getting taken advantage of.

Now, why I quoted your stuff here is to get into something more detailed...

Now I can only ASSUME your situation with the points you are trying to make that it would be more considered you were taken advantage of, and not raped according to what i feel rape is. To me, rape is a guy physically overpowering his victom and forcing it completely against their will. Or by being unconcious like passed out drunk.

My opinion of you may differ because someone i was with steadily for a few months turned around and screamed rape at me after i kicked her out of my apartment for cheating on me.

Either way, there's the bad apples that try to use it as an advantage, when there was never any rape, then there's the gray areas.. like getting taken advantage of.. wich still isn't ok.. but it's not nearly as bad as full on rape.

THIS is an EXTREMELY close minded, ignorant thing to say.

And with that...I'm done with this thread....again.

I would like to watch the trial 'cuz I don't believe her.....

When two of her friends left the room, she says the thirteen year old boy forced himself on her. About a month later, she visited her school counselor to talk about what happened. "I wanted help because it was my first time and I was scared," she says.

It says the friends left the room.....Not the house.....

?????She said nothing?????

*****BULLSHIT*****

When I was in a "taken advantage of" situation, I screamed, kicked, punched, clawed, & cried for help.....

And he was my boyfriend.....I could say I was raped.....I don't.....

I DO NOT BEILIEVE HALF THE CHICKS WHO SAY THEY WHERE "RAPED".....

I think it's worth a reminder to all that just because YOU think a certain way and deal with things a certain way doesn't mean others do too. People can be VERY different in how they think and act and process. I think it's worth remembering that.

AGE makes absolutely no difference.

You're missing the point of the article entirely.

The article is claiming the case noteworthy BECAUSE age is the one thing here that apparently DID matter.

The entire point of the article was to show where the law is going wrong.

Why is it wrong for a 14yr old girl to be arrested for statutory rape of a 13yr old boy? There has to be a minimum age that is absolutely too young to be having sex. That state chose 13.

Would it be wrong for a 14yr old boy to fuck a 13yr old girl? No? What about 12? 11?

That girl broke the law by fucking the boy, no matter who convinced whom to do what. And it's my opinion that she's only crying rape herself in defense.

Statutory rape laws need a major overhaul, and have for some time IMHO. I do feel that no one should be having sex with a 13 year old, including another 13 year old. I'm certainly not naive enough to believe that it doesn't happen, far too frequently, but measures should be taken to help prevent it. However, the law should account for the difference between consentual sex between a 15 year old and a 16 year old, and non-consentual sex between a 13 year old and a 30 year old.

As for the case at hand, my gut feeling is that both the boy and the girl deserve some sort of punishment, but not necessarily to be convicted as a rapist/statutory rapist. They're both too young to be having sex, consentual or not. I think the rape story sounds a little fishy, but that's just my initial reaction not knowing all the facts in the case.

Oh my god she could be put on the sex offenders list. I think she would be on there till she is 21 but even then it can ruin her life.

      ~~~~~ Wait, what? With as hot as it has been, that sounds like it would have been a great idea.  Or did it interfere with something?
      Wow, we had a brief power outage on Friday morning and I just now had time to boot my computer back up.  It has been a crazy time, but I did get my vehicle back Friday afternoon and new tires put on it Saturday morning.   After 2 years, finally got the AC repaired and the frame rewelded from last year's "repare".  These guys at Gratiot Auto Center: Chris P., Sevo and Damon...Lifesavers!!!   They used to be called Roseville Auto, but this is a new group because I didn't recognize anyone and they didn't have any records of working on my previous vehicle.  Also, there seems to be 2 shifts of workers because I didn't know anyone there today when I went to have the maintenance light turned off from the service that was completed Saturday.   It was literally like night and day.  Chris P. was laid back and handled things with a steady flow, Minnesota Fats style.  The guy today was rushed and hectic like an extra from Everybody Loves Raymond.
