What does YOUR moniker mean?

Hey there lovely DGNers, someone recently asked me what a Kiri_No_Aijin is. It's not the first time I have been asked. I often wonder how people come up with their screen names and/or what they mean to you.

So, I will start. And do forgive me if this thread duplicates one from not extremely long ago, I don't recall either way.

First the story of my moniker.

A long time ago, I became a Koneko. That was my first DGN name but it had been a real life nickname I used with friend/lover. I wasn't sure if it was a real word in Japanese but knew that Neko was cat and Ko meant little. Little Kitty, Kitten, etc. That was what I wanted to be called.

Fast forward, I joined DGN a year later and used Koneko. When the board was rebuilt on a different software platform, it would not let me use Koneko again. Grrrrrr. So a new opportunity to create a name that expressed an inner part of me. A character from within.

I love creeping and rolling mist. I love to walk in it. So, once again, being the half-assed otaku that I am, I tried to create a custom name with a certain meaning. That was The Mist's Lover (as in mistress).

I made Kiri No Aijin. Kiri (mist also, grey) No (of) Aijin (lover, mistress)

Way later I asked Shade if this was even remotely what I meant since he is our resident Japanese scholar, to my knowledge. He said it was exactly the same meaning. Relief.

A bastardization of the word 'pheramones' making it kind of a pun.

A pheromone (from Greek φέρω phero "to bear" + ‘ορμόνη "hormone") is a chemical that triggers a natural behavioral response in another member of the same species. There are alarm pheromones, food trail pheromones, sex pheromones, and many others that affect behavior or physiology. Their use among insects has been particularly well documented, although many vertebrates and plants also communicate using pheromones.

I have a habit of saying "Oh__My__Goth" in OMG type situations, so I thought it suited this site,

Msterbeau has been a screen name I've used since I first got a Hotmail account many years ago.

It was originally pronounced "Mister Beau (Bo)". It's part of my last name plus mister. Friends called me that and it was an easy thing to remember.

Funny thing is... Most online people thought it was pronounced "master bo" I got a chuckle out of that. And then I got here and it got butchered in so many ways....

I don't like algebra. At all. So when I was in middle school instead of learning algebra I'd draw comics.

"Masey" was a character who was the exact opposite of me. He was monstrously obese and had a big, black afro. He was also very religious, I suppose, which is why Saint is added before.

So yeah, there you go. It has lasted a decade: this fat, afro-sportin' cartoon character has become my internet moniker.

I am glad you did something useful with your time in school. Do you still draw comics? If not, what do you do for creative fun?

WELL...what can I say?...I'm a Reverend.....My name is Reverence.....

rev·er·ence

1: honor or respect felt or shown : deference; especially : profound adoring awed respect

2: a gesture of respect (as a bow)

3: the state of being revered

4: one held in reverence —used as a title for a clergyman

I chose this as my name because I feel not enough males possess names of virtues...

..like you will see exhibited in the female populace...

..reverence; to me, is the highest of virtues as it contains them all within.

something random i typed for a global ezboard account name years ago out of frustration.

i had to go back and check what i used afterwards.

thats all there is to it.

the name stuck and more people know me as wreckie, wreck, or head wreck than they do by my official name

My origional name on here was Vampyro a combination between Vampire and Pyromaniac. The vampire part came when i was in the marines, being goth and on vampire freaks at the time i was called Vampire goth boy.. sorta insulting but even those judgemental assholes didn't fuck with me as I knew how to do my job, so they sorta accepted me, but didn't if ya know what I mean. I went along with it, let em all belive i really did drink blood, sacrifice chickens, cast spells, ect.. until the dumbasses eventually figured out that I was just simply trolling them all along.. so then it became Vamp for short, a non insulting, more acceptable nick name.

Then the Pyro part came up in iraq, where on more than a couple scenarios, I was directly and indirectly involved in some pretty decent sized explosions and fires... then another "freak" like me who knew my Vamp name, and saw I was then starting to get called "Pyro" put the two together and came up with "Vampyro" The 2nd part of my name, Sinistral.. well that was what me and some friends up home in flint came up with in our little group.. since we were misunderstood, and one is left handed anyway, Sinistral sorta turned into a group title... hence Vampyro Sinistral.

Then I got banned for not playing well with a certain few people on here.

though i had this account already set up before I was banned, I got the idea from the movie "Anger Management" in the one scene where the doctor pushes a car off a parkinglot edge for blocking them in with his client's car.. before he did this, he put in a insurance card.. that said "Know Buddy cares!" I was tickled by it and in lue of the situation on here, felt that it fit.. do I really care? Or am I just a smart ass? Am I your buddy and I care? Or am I just trolling your ass.. but at the time I didn't really care if people figured out who I was or not, I knew they would, and the slow ones that didn't figure it out, eh, happy trolling on them.

That's about the fuck of it.

Raev is just a shortened version of Raevael.

Raevael is a character of mine, in a series of short stories I've written over the years that piece together a larger tale. I based Raevael's mannerisms on my own darker desires. His story was in essence a therapeutic and safe way to vent some of my own inner turmoil and personal demons. So for me, Raevael/Raev is the expression of the darker side of my nature.

I majored in biology, spent years studying genetics and such...

When scientists were first learning to put genes from one organism into another, they needed a gene that would be expressed in a visible way, something easy to identify. They chose the luciferase gene, isolated from the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Sure enough, they were able to make strange glowing plants and animals!

My real name is Victoria, and I am a devoted science nerd. I've been using different variations of this screen name for a while now.

I don't have enough information on it. The Morbid part in my name comes from my angsty, lonewolf, corrupted to the core, way of life. The Suicide part is just an illusion for me killing my soul over and over again.

Jynxxx is my stage name, and has been a nickname of mine for many years. I am also very unlucky.

Angel is my name.

I added the "-ed" to make the letters number 13, my only lucky number.

my original name was dynomiiiiite.

i started getting "harassed" on here by ... someone (someone i know who is not ON here but who would come here, read my posts and then email me about it. mean emails.)

i wanted to delete my account but was denied.

so then marblez thought it would help to just change my name so she made it "jane dead" like jane doe, i died, i was gone, i disappeared, and dead was so much more "goth" than just jane doe ;)

well my "stalker" still figured out that was me so it didn't help. :p he still bothered me....

but i just never went back to my old name.

i liked using janedead though people have told me i should go back to my other name.

Look my name up. It's the coolest place in the world and also a reminder of how MUCH can get fucked up in under a minute just due simply to human error.

Geez, so many interesting back stories on screen names... mine is boring. Spin on what my friends, family and neighbors called me. Suzy, Suzy-Q, and Suzy-Quzie. So I shortened it to SuZqZ.

Shade Everdark was the name (however lame that is) of my first online role play character, from more than ten years ago, other sites, other times, other ages.

It stuck, and I kept it, though I usually use State of Blind as a screen name these days.

I used to use Jazzkitten007 or Jazzcat007, but a crazy ex of mine and his new girlfriend started stalking and being jsut generally vicious and horrible to me.....so I changed it, it's more current appropriate anyhow.
