Well, it looks like it is finally time for the Anglicans to decide if they're Protestant or Catholic. Look at all the trouble started by that poor Henry!!

I've been on this board long enough to know the reaction to this kind of story, so I'm not even sure why I'm posting it. Probably just because it's on my mind alot lately and the only other forum I post on is craftster, and I don't think this story would fit in the needlepoint OR crochet section.

So it will go here.

My guess as to the reaction to this story is as follows:

Catholics are anti-woman and that is why they won't allow women to be priests

Catholics are homophobic which is why they won't allow gay men to be priests or sanctify gay unions

Catholics are WAY behind the times and maybe this will be a wake up call for them

And on and on and on.

I suspect that the more conservative Anglicans will become Catholic, and the more liberal will stay Anglican.

Shame to break up the party like that.

Not my church, faith, spiritual practice, etc... Have a nice time sorting it out.

I'm not Sudanese, but I still care about Sudan.

I'm not Anglican either, but I still care about the choices they make.

I mean, they were going to have to decide sometime...maybe 500 years after their inception, but still, that's sometime.

Wouldn't it be weird for this to happen on your watch?

I mean for FIVE HUNDRED YEARS, the Anglicans have been this sort of bridge between Catholics and Protestants and now, like THIS MONTH, that's going to change.

I hope they don't reinforce the #'s of the Catholics...they can seriously make a better impact as their own group...

.. for all their 'progressiveness' will be obliterated by Rome...UNLESS...if they do as a certain sect of the Orthodox Branch did when it came back...they give Rome tribute & lip service...but their Highest Cardinal/Bishop has a certain level of autonomy..except that he reports to the Pope...yes..he has 'the white phone's' phone #...

As for the practices of the Catholic Priesthood...{who won't let me in}...

I do think your being NICE with your words SASS...(may I call you SASS)

I'll quote me, quoting me from years ago...

"NO GOD I'VE EVER KNOWN WOULD HOLD ONE CREATION ABOVE ANOTHER."

The Catholics are not so bad, I have been part Catholic since I was a BB.....

I bet they will go with the Catholics because of the money.....

..But at the cost of their open minded stance...

Oddly enough, the Catholic church completely accepts evolution; they regard it as the mechanism by which God continues to do his work. Go figure...

But how long did it take for their "learned men to figure that out???

I put that statement together when I was like 12-14 somehow.....

They've even conceded to the old Hebrew thought on Hell...it's not a place but a state of being in which your soul is disconnected from GOD...(reread GOD as "the rest of the souls in existence")

But they aren't on the bus with...

Women's rights...

Homosexual's rights...

BIRTH CONTROL...

Clergy...

.....TO START A SHORT LIST.....

I care about the Sudanese far more then I do the internal politics of a religion I don't belong to. Until those politics threaten to cause the rest of us serious harm, I'll leave them to sort themselves out.

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
