Has anyone ever been asked political questions at an interview before? My niece went to fill out an application at Target and they were asking political bs like who did you vote for 8 years ago?who should be president?,etc etc etc.

IMO I think this is bullsh^$,and should have nothing do do on getting a job,WTF!

anyone else ever have to deal with this at job interviews?

its never happened to me.

:nosounds like there aught to be a law against that!

I thought that and questions regarding religion were illegal

I was asked if I shaved my cootch recently.....

I said "Damn I just want to serve burgers, Dude".....

Nooooo.....actually that question was asked, but it was actually appropriate.....

Nobody ever ask Me about Me political views.....That seems very inappropriate & irrelevant for most jobs.....

I actually think there is a law against it...try reporting them and see what happens. :p

I really do think it's not allowed though.

I use that station for traffic updates until they mentioned that, btw this is about stupid questions being asked at job interviews not religion!

Is your niece even old enough to have voted 8 years ago? That sounds like a question designed to test general awareness of what's going on in the world. But, I am pretty sure it's illegal to ask a job applicant questions about religious beliefs or political stance, whatever the actual purpose of the question. I know for sure employers can't ask if you're married or have children.

Um, these are the only topics that are illegal to ask about:

Race

Color

Sex

Religion

National origin

Birthplace

Age

Disability

Marital/family status

Odd twist... it's illegal to ask if you are a legal citizen of the USA, but it is legal to ask if you are authorized to work in the USA.

You'd be surprised how many employers actually DO ask this question, Ms. Pomba..

I've walked out on more than one interview because of this, or just plain told them I'd found other arrangements when they DID call me back. I have principles of whom I shall grace with the Goddess's presence, and this sort of discrimination throws red flags all over the place. I'd rather eat from a rubbish can and sing for my supper, than work for these sorts of fuckwits.

A lot of waitressing, nightclub, and adult entertainment job interviewers will ask these questions. There needs to be a union for the service and adult industries in this state. California and Nevada are leagues ahead of us in that aspect. Hmmm...maybe this is my "special purpose." I have the sway, smarts, and reputation to get something going. Thanks for the indirect inspiration to DO something. :)

I shudder to think how many people are injusticed by this sort of hiring tactic.

cept they DO ask you about race when they ask if your Caucasian, American Indian, African American, Asian...

Ask about Age when it's "are you over the age of 18"

I have not seen a professional company application that doesn't ask about disabilities that may hazard your ability to work.

soo....if their so illegal...why are they are on almost EVERY form???

You will notice they are optional.

Its So Serious in Here So Heres Something that YOU shouldnt say:

interviewer: The list for your Job history is blank may I ask why

YOU: Uh.. Ummm... My Job History...???

interviewer: Yes....

YOU: Hand Jobs, Blow Jobs, Feet Jobs, Cheeck Clapping, Rim Jobs

*SILENCE*

I havent had any questions asked that were out of line for an interview yet.

Cant wait though.....LOL!

I once had an interviewer notice a ring on my left hand and say "What a pretty ring. Is that an engagement ring?" They're pretty sneaky about bending the rules.

As far as the age thing goes, job appilcations ask when you graduated high school, which gives a pretty good indication of age.

These days I been through many interviews and it all turns to bullshit!

I remember back when I was younger I had no problem for applying at any places and getting the job. BUT, now they want to be all sneaky sneaky in interviews. I cant even get a fucking dish washing job these days because of form of discrimination.

the job market is for the employers, not the employes.

i do believe this is the problem with capitalism and consumerism. with technology replacing jobs, or outsoursing, theres less jobs needed to support the economy. so more service jobs pop up. the manufacturing sector is getting the biggest blow. telecommunications and it on the other hand seem to be the jobs staying afloat. but Hnry fords vision of consumerism was based on decent wages for everyone. that isnt so anymore. but its not that people are making less. its that no company really compensates for inflation as fast as inflation is growing, unless minimum wage goes up. and then well prices get inflated. either way socialism will happen slowly. the goverment will have to do more to help jobseekers.

either way with unemployment high here, companies are being very select when they have a opening, to many people are rushing for even the smaller jobs

I had a job app ask me Math problums. I failed the math portion..since I am not good at Math. They said you couldn't use a calculator for it and could I brush up on my Math skills. I said I got learning disblity in Math and so they didn't hire me for that job.
