I honestly had to think about whether I wanted to post this link or not, after all the arguments over weight that have gone on over time on this board.

But honestly? On a game for kids? I kind of find this too appalling not to say something:

Sony brings you--Fat Princess.

seriously, WTF?!

What...? Really?

While it's not as offensive as GTA that is still really bad. Any little kid that plays this game will take away one of two things from it (either/or probably, imo) that either A) Fat people are to be made fun of. Well...this really almost objectifies overweight people also OR B) Some little girls might get some crazy idea in their head that this is healthy or desirable to do and overeat to the point where they're trying to be like Fat Princess.

Either of which...nothing good can come from.

Just another step on the road to making our society as dysfunctional as possible. It's interesting that you bring up the bit about turning men into dimwits. This has been a thorn in my side for a long time and whenever I bring it up, people just laugh and shake their heads and say I'm reading too much into it. Watch any commercial or sitcom depicting a family. Then think about how the father is portrayed. The mother and children are always portrayed as strong, virtuous, and intelligent. The father figure is nearly always a bumbling idiot who is the object of derision and scorn for his wife and kids. This has been the norm on television for so long, we don't even question it any more. To me, this really does smack of social engineering on par with the whole destruction of the self-image of teenage girls.

I think that the "battle of the sexes" is just as much a tool of the controlling elite as the concept of "race" and racism. When you look at the modern, mainstream feminist movement, it seems to me that it's not so much about celebrating and empowering women as it is about making women more like men. I believe that men and women are equal, but certainly not the same. We have different strengths and weaknesses and should complement each other, rather than compete. That just seems a lot more healthy to me on a visceral level than thinking about it in terms of a struggle or "battle".

I've digressed quite a bit from the original topic, but I think it does relate. And as far as I'm concerned, this game should sit on store shelves unpurchased.

This post I'm making will be the last thing I say of this, since it is a bit off topic yet not totally...but I must ask you:

What about people like myself who believe we're born into the wrong gender?

It's interesting also how you think that the genders compliment each other...when I've always held the belief that the genders actually HINDER each other.

Like I said, last time I go off topic and I'm not trying to patronize you, I generally want to hear your opinion on the matter. After this we go back to solely talking about Fat Princess and how horrible it would be to be force fed cake. I mean..sure the first and second slices would rule...but after that? :ralph

This would be a fascinating topic...you should start a new thread on this! I didn't want to reply to this since it started off talking about the Fat Princess video game! :)

+1

This is why I don't watch most TV anymore. If I wanted to get bashed and spit upon, I'd work more hours, lol.

At one point I liked the show Malcolm in the Middle. However, although the situations which arose around her were funny, I really hated the mother. An evil, control freak bitch if I ever saw one. Reminds me of some of the mothers I've known in real life (not my own mind you). Also, although I liked the dad, I thought it was pathetic how he acted like the mother's weak willed sex slave, licking her feet even if she spit upon him. Back when I first starting watching it, I couldn't figure out that aspect of the show. I was like "Am I supposed to like her or something?"

Hmmmm...you know...I just may.

Since I'm a slacker it may take me about...an hour. You can even start it if you'd like :) If not then wait for me...although I must warn you...people have died from starvation and boredom waiting for me to finish/start things .

Oh and thanks for being a badass and not threadjacking. For this you receive one free pony with the purchase of a pony of equal or lesser value. :horse:

Quite frankly, I'm appalled by this game. Not because I'm a fat chick, but because it's just so ridiculously stupid. Am I supposed to feel different because it's designed by a chick? I don't. This will just create so many more problems. Think about all those poor little girls in elementary school that are a bit on the bigger side because mommy and daddy are to busy to feed them anything but McDonald's all the time.....This game will just give the other kids more of an arsenal of hurtful words. I can see it now. "Keep away from Fat Princess!" It's a disgrace.

Do you think if it were a Fat Prince that anyone would care?

You pose a very good question. More often than not, it's more socially acceptable for a guy to be heavier. Though, the point I made would still be valid. It's not so much that I'm upset that it's a fat girl, I'm just upset about the game in general. If it were fat prince......Yes, I'd be a little less upset. We've all been brainwashed by society at least a little bit. BUT, I'd still be appalled by the game concept of stuffing a kid full of cake so they are harder to carry back...it's just not cool.

EDIT: Though I must say that I do agree with you that there would be less of an outrage for most about it if it were Fat Prince. Double standard n such.

The goal of the game is to eat cake to become fat therefore heavy making it easier to defend the castle. Seems fine enough to me really. If anything the name of the game could be different but other then that I don't see a problem. Video games are a form of art and very rarely does a artist set out to actually offend people which this game was not made to do. It is not being made to upset, offend, degrade or enlighten. Its being made to entertain. Now I'm not going to tell anybody not to get upset over the game but I do ask for them to take a step back and think about just what it is they are getting upset about. A game about a princess who eats cake to defend her castle.
