Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Georgia 'under attack' as Russian tanks roll in TBLISI, Georgia (CNN) -- Georgia's president said Friday that his country is under attack by Russian tanks and warplanes, and he accused Russia of targeting civilians as tensions over the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia appeared to boil over into full-blown conflict. "All day today, they've been bombing Georgia from numerous warplanes and specifically targeting (the) civilian population, and we have scores of wounded and dead among (the) civilian population all around the country," President Mikhail Saakashvili told CNN in an exclusive interview. "This is the worst nightmare one can encounter," he said. Asked whether Georgia and Russia were now at war, he said, "My country is in self-defense against Russian aggression. Russian troops invaded Georgia."
Rev.Reverence Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I don't like it...but at least they are doing what they are doing. WAR=DEATH+DESTRUCTION
Rev.Reverence Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Something we can't be blamed for!!!!! :peanutbutterjellytime: :peanutbutterjellytime: :peanutbutterjellytime: :peanutbutterjellytime: :peanutbutterjellytime:

Shade Everdark Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 And what does Medvedev have to say? Um, whatever Putin tells him to say?
Msterbeau Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Um, whatever Putin tells him to say? And what does HE have to say?
Hellion Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Give it some time we will involve ourselves,we are the worlds police.
Shade Everdark Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 And what does HE have to say? He probably went all Darth Sidious on Medvedev. You know: "Wipe them out. All of them."
Head Wreck Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Give it some time we will involve ourselves,we are the worlds police. the arrogance of this amuses me
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 He probably went all Darth Sidious on Medvedev. You know: "Wipe them out. All of them." From what I have read... ya, thats about it in a nut shell.

Simon Bar Sinister Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 The Republic of Georgia has 2,000 soldiers taking part in the Iraq occupation; earlier today, they asked President Bush to have them airlifted back home. No response from the administration last I heard (3 or 4 hours ago).
SaGa Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 both sides do agree the "west" is the factor that determins the war. and since theres a pipeline running through geogia thats around the warzone amarica might not be happy to see it get hurt
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 10, 2008 Author Posted August 10, 2008 It's more complicated than that. Russia is adamantly opposed to Georgia joining NATO, which Georgia has applied for. Russia supports the break away republics that are not recognized by the international community as separate states than Georgia. Russia barely supports Georgia as a sovereign nation come to think of it.
Simon Bar Sinister Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Cease fire declared; let's see if it's honored.
AntiHero Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Something similar happened in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. Within two years of present date IIRC.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 No cease fire has be declared. Georgia is in the process of asking for one. Russia is in the process of bombing Georgia into the stone age.
Msterbeau Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Looks like it's cyber as well... http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080...an-hackers.html

Scales Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 The World Police are looking into it. https://www.cia.gov/news-information/speech...sit-to-cia.html I sent Condi Rice, Secretary of State Rice, over there. She'll be coming back to brief me on Saturday. I'm looking forward to hearing firsthand what she has seen, what she has heard. And I call for the territorial integrity of Georgia to be respected and the cease-fire agreement to be honored.
