Destroit Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Then shortly after, I see this post. Of all the funny moments from The Boondocks that could be shared...this wasn't really funny. Or interesting. Sadly, as an avid fan of The Boondocks to its correctness (which is why I used the word sadly) I will say that the MLK episode is easily the most influential and moving episode I've seen in the series, other than Free Shabaz. The first time I saw the episode and MLK said his speech I actually STOOD UP out my chair and applauded. I couldn't believe that anyone on Adult Swim would ever have the balls to put in a show what Aaron McGruder did for that episode - and it was about fucking time. I do understand, eye openers CAN be a bit uncomfortable. I don't believe all black people are what the ficticious MLK described in that episode, but there's a good enough percentage of black people that are which HOLDS BACK THEIR ENTIRE CULTURE. So before you call racism, I have a feeling that the MLK ep. of The Boondocks wasn't supposed to be some KKK-supporting racist rally cry from caucasians - I think it was supposed to be intended as an eye opener and encouragement for those black people who still PURPOSELY perpetuate the negative stereotypes against their people to wake the fuck up and cut it the fuck out. Heh, nobody was expecting two cents outta me yet I threw down a nickel. Feel free to keep the change, pun intended.
