My parents are in Alaska right now as we speak, have been there 1 month, and 2 more months to go. They absolutely LOVE it. They went on a cruise a year and a half ago, and now they're just touring around in their Avalanche.

I've always thought it would be interesting to move there for a minute. Don't they even give you a big tax refund just for living there? That's what I've heard. On the other hand, I don't know if I could handle six months of daylight and then six months of darkness.

The longest it is either dark or light in most of Alaska is about 17 hours a day. The very northern regions it's a bit longer, but no one lives there.

Alaska is beautiful, and the people there are great. I traveled there back in late '90-early '91, to help clean up the Valdez tanker spill. I was there for a total of two months and two weeks. I really didn't want to leave, but my feet were itching! I then made my way to Carson City, and Las Vegas, and ended up staying in Nevada for two years.
