I really dislike the horse race style coverage that elections get. They are constantly talking about who is up or down in the polls and what they need to do or avoid doing to "win the race." Honestly my interest in that is VERY minimal it is somewhat relevant, in that many of us don't want to make a "gesture vote" for someone that has no chance of winning. Even if we don't really like our choices.

But, the information i actually need is probing, deep discussions about the issues, and the ability of this or that candidate to make good on the stances. Often the actually issues just get glossed over with flowery wording and the reporters let it slide because they... all we really care about is the horse race. Who is ahead and who is behind? Fascinating!! What they actually stand for, how they would actually accomplish it? Meh, who cares, its entertainment!!

I agree, I wish they would just state the facts on what each canidate stands for and not talk about the 20 different polls. Once again, I'm going to be very happy when election season is over.

Unless of of course the Dems decide to start the next election cycle right after the winner is certified.

The campaign season is 4 years long (minimum) unfortunately.

agree if obama and mc cain hugged, had some tea and talked perhaps that whould be interesting. see eye to eye. but nope. they gotta make rude comments, and play games with each other. really the more a candidate fights the other one. the less im interested. he shouldnt have to bring down someone. he could call them out on a insult to protect him. but i want a president who knows what hes doing enough not to treat it like a war game, lay his cards down on why we should choose him. not why we shouldnt choose the other guy. we have talk radio anyways to slam politicians

*Sigh* someone to vote FOR. It's all I really want. Someone to beleive in.

Honestly... I want

Obama's ability to speak.

Greenspan's mind for economics.

Reagan's ability to look someone in the eye and demand they "tear down that wall"

Kenedys Balls

Bush Sr's ability to fight, win and come home.

Clinton's ability to talk the habit off a Nun.

FDR's loyalty and service to the people.

I'm not sure if that covers it all... but it's a good start...

Now, go find me that person.

Bush Srs. Ability to fight, come home and make the middle east pick up the tab. That was the good part.

Anyhow back to the horse race coverage.
