Rayne Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I just heard about this today. Anyone know anything about it? Google it? http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fre...on-browser.html http://www.google.com/chrome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome
EAF (1) Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I think my work has it on their computers...if its what i'm thinking it is then it is a nice thing to have. It has a bunch of little window apps, like translators, map search engine, spell check, weather, ect that you can arrange on the page as you need. but thats only if it is the same thing my work has.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Did they have it before Tuesday? Cause that sounds more like Google Desktop. Chrome jsut came out this week. and though it is damn fast at browsing... it's... not ready.
n0Mad Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 Google it? Leave it to you to point out the obvious.
aequorea Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 i heard a review on the radio. here's the gist of it... google designed a browser that would function primarily to run the many little programs that exist on websites, rather than just viewing static info such as text or images. it has very little border space, so you get a larger, clearer view of the page on your screen. apparently it does load complex pages faster than internet explorer or firefox. it is only available for PC at the moment, so it's all a moot point for us mac owners!
Head Wreck Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 shite. utter utter shite hardly the most user friendly. they made it uncluttered to the point where i'm left scratching my head on how to configure the damn thing. program now uninstalled on i'm on the hunt for another mid level browser as i have the feeling FF will soon be targeted by malware writers due to its distribution. as to speed. its slightly quicker but not enough for me to give two tugs of a dead dogs dick
Msterbeau Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 i heard a review on the radio. here's the gist of it... google designed a browser that would function primarily to run the many little programs that exist on websites, rather than just viewing static info such as text or images. it has very little border space, so you get a larger, clearer view of the page on your screen. apparently it does load complex pages faster than internet explorer or firefox. it is only available for PC at the moment, so it's all a moot point for us mac owners! Wait. You're on a Mac? Yay!! It's OK. Firefox 3 be working just fine on Mac. And the speed tests so far don't put it any faster then FF. Maybe I'll try it in Parallels.
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Well, I can say this... it handles Flash better than FF does and it is fast... bit it's still.. well... it needs work.
DarkChylde Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I just download it and to me, it works totally fine, and fast!! Originally I was going to stick with FF no matter what but since lately its been crashing and freezing up, I said fuck it and decide to give google chrome a try. So far im finding this way lot better.
