Just as a suggestion if your so inclined:

All along when i see a new welcome post and im unsure if that new person even knows the post is there or not (they haven't posted in it) i usually send them an Email or PM saying something along the lines of:

"not sure if you saw this or....(>insert some such comment) just thought id point it out :

>Insert Post Title (usually "Welcome so and so") Here

>Put Link Here

But i don't always get everyone , and a few extra people pointing it out never hurt. Especially if you know the person.

Its helped a ton of times. Often people don't even think to check that section as they assume its "for introductions" and if they are to shy , or to lazy or just not in the mood to post an introduction they may never check it unless someone points it out. Often they are grateful as they just had no clue it was there.
