Msterbeau Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 No really. Literally. She drive/races cars. Not some NASCAR/stockcar thing either... She does Drifting. http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/10/nascar-...-lady/#comments Also: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/e60/news/story?id=3571491 If you don't know what drifting is, watch this: target="_blank
TitsMcGee Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 She's a pretty cool lady, and not to many people know that either. The speech she gave at the RNC was actually the first time she's really given a speech and look at how well she did.
n0Mad Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 And, that quote of John McCain's that everyone likes making fun of, something like, "I can't remember how many houses I own," well, Cindy has the money in the family so she probably owns most of the homes. So, it kinda make sense for John not to remember.

I can understand if there's a bunch of investment properties that they have someone handle for them... so maybe he's not sure about one or two. But to think that because it's her money he doesn't have a clue seems implausible.
Msterbeau Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 Wow.....What a waste of oil..... I could say the same about driving to almost anywhere except for necessities. Like... City Club, for instance? We all waste to some degree.

With that her having that much money and him being in politics... they have separate finances and holdings.

Yeah, but are you trying to say he doesn't have a clue about what she owns, even if separately? Maybe the rich and famous do things differently.
Rev.Reverence Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I could say the same about driving to almost anywhere except for necessities. Like... City Club, for instance? We all waste to some degree. I would argue that an occasional trip out to see ones freinds & kick back a few... is in fact a social necessity for the human animal... & the impact can be lessened in these instances... by a car pool...

And I would counter that sport and hobbies are also intrinsic and necessary to "Life and the pursuit of happiness". If you know me... you know I don't like wasting gas in a car. That said, I love motorsports and I'm willing to accept them with the understanding that you can do it in ways that are either more or less wasteful.
sass_in_the_pants Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I think that's really cool! More interesting hobby for a first lady than knitting, eh? (I'm not knocking knitting, people, make no mistake - K2P2 4EVA)
Gaf The Horse With Tears Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Marc, No, I'm saying it could go something like... "Well, I know we have those three houses, but I'm not sure if they are community property or part of her Estate." and Do you mean like... If you are not racing your car or tuning your engine, there is no reason for the engine to be running and you to be sitting there reving the engine cause you like the sound of it? and if we have to give up motor sports to save gas, we also need to give up many other things. Like Plastic forks and spoons. Dildo and vibrators made of Plastic. Most Children's toys. Not only would we save the Petroleum to make them, we would save the fuel to ship them.

If i were him I would have been thinking like it's community property, regardless. Then again.. The media would have gone and checked and been like: Dude... you lied... Motorsports: More wasteful: Large V-8, gas burning, long duration race, long distance to transport cars. Less wasteful: Small engines, local track, short races. Either way I'm not gonna totally rail against them That said, I bet I spent a WHOLE lot less gas doing a weekend of racing in my CRX at Waterford Hills (A track local to Detroit) then people who drive from Detroit to Traverse City in their Suburban loaded with kids and a trailer and a boat. And I agree on the last statement. You have to have some balance. Sooner or later many of those things will be made from something other then oil based chemicals and then you don't have to worry so much. Although then you have to think about landfills and recycling still.
n0Mad Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 It amazes me how many of my customers at work say, "No need for a bag. Save a ... uh, plastic tree or whatever." I look at them and say, "Petroleum." "Huh?" "Petroleum. Plastic is made out of petroleum. By not using a bag you are saving oil so thank you." "Oh, I didn't know," then the customer walks off. Usually to a big gas-guzzling SUV. What really gets me though are the people who want me to double bag a gallon of milk. It's got a friggen handle on the jug, use it! Or they buy a magazine (that's it, one magazine) and they want a bag. Can I just smack them?
Msterbeau Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 Can I just smack them? Can I help?
TitsMcGee Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Never trust a junkie. She isn't the first woman who could be first lady that had drug problems. Shit look at Betty Ford. She's cleaned herself up and doing a lot of good things these days so I think she's earned redemption.
Msterbeau Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 Never trust a junkie. What has that got to do with her Drifting?
