Things like this is the reason I'm kind of thankful I only have to really worry about blizzards, and maybe the occassional tornado.

Well, TX is a huge state, but I'm sure Houston will get hit hard.

Houston is on the wrong side of the eye if Ike stays on the projected path. The National Weather Service told the residents of Galveston that they face, and I quote, "certain death" if they stay. The storm surge is going to be at least 23 feet.

Wasn't as horrible as it could of been.. but sheesh. Some really heartbreaking stories regardless of the "total" damage. :(
