~Sigh~ There goes the hood

So...my neighbors kid has joined the local metro detroit area street gang 7g4 or whatever...not sure, i may be missing a letter or number. N ow mind you...this is not a force to sneeze at. I hear they are way out in Ponticrack as well...(Pontiac, for those not in the Know)

I have seen the gang graphitti with their symbol around for a few years now right up at the ELEMENTARY school.

Now, keep in mind there is NO ONE hurting for money so bad in this area that they NEED to sell crack or meth. Except the homeless guys...and they are too busy sniffing glue and drinking.

There are still jobs to be found if your willing or able to stand on your feet all day.

Which, i will assume...if your out vandalizing...selling 'rock'...and standing in the middle of the street WHICH IS FOR CARS...and NOT MOVING... (i will plow your ass down)...you could get and hold a job if your not a lazy slob.

Or just plain stupid. Most of these lil gang busters around here are under age but old enough to know better. Mommy still pays for everything, (my kids worked at age 14 and up...hello...) they sit on the porch and play nintendo....while stuffing their bloated guts with puffy snacks.

Now mind you...its because I was NOT EASY on my kids that they are straight as arrows...maybe even a bit uptight (things could be worse!!) They work full time and get raises for a job well done...they attend college with VERY little financial help from me now, and are on their own.

They thank me for this everyday...as one by one their friends...quit school...move back home...lose jobs...

And i sit here and watch this MAN (who by the way, likes to pull the 'but i am still a kid!' card, everytime responsibility...or Accountability...enters his boring lil world.)...make his 75 year old pruned up weak grandpa MOW THE LAWN while he sits there!

Well i guess the nut don't fall far from the tree...cause mom who works all day and some nights to SPOIL HIS ASS...kicked out lazy fatass crack dealer husband last year, now the whole teen gang has taken over...

He used to sit there, and mind you this is after a 12 hr shift...WATCH HER MOW THE LAWN...

after his third bust IN THAT HOUSE she finally kicked him out.

Here is the thing. How on earth does a kid who is not abused and have everything end up that way?

I HAD to move in with a drug dealer because my dad was a pervert, and my mom used to beat me. They didn't spend money on us and my mom called and got me fired from my job...the only place in town that would hire a 15 yr old at the time...it was a small town.

Now I have a lisence...and means to make ends meet without having that dangerous and embarrassing affiliation...of gang this or that. IT WAS NOT FUN being shot at ect...ect...

I blame mtv for romantisizing gang life. I DO. And sexism.

Well, most rap.

Have had to report the people around here more than once when things got out of hand and its a little bit better...but its a shame we have to consider moving...on the outside things look ok...but its going downhill fast.

we hear gunshots some nights...used to have to go south for that.

I hear the FBI is setting up an anti gang/crack task force in Pontiac.

That is 20 miles away and i am 6 miles from detroit...so yah, its spreading.

I have NO SYMPATHY for the spoiled brats today. Go ahead and have kids at 14 ya stupid dumb fuck...end up poor and with nothing...no chance of a better life...

Not like he is going to get beat up for Not joining...around here...YET...

GET A JOB a hobby, be a real man...stay in school and take on more responsibility...

I heard her say the other day that the troubles were making her want to slit her wrists...dicipline, not emotional blackmail woman!

excuse my type 0's...i have two wrapped fingers still

What does any of that have to do with gun onwership?

Hmmmm...work in a smelly, sweaty burger joint for minimum wage and little prospect for advancement or personal fulfillment...or sell drugs and make piles of cash? I'm not defending it, but the Left Hand Path is always easier and more seductive.

if drugs were legal this would not happen

they stole the name 7g4 or whatever from the black panthers and it does not mean the same thing now

they rule out of fear more than respect these days

you dont need a good reason to kill someone now ( such as someone hurts your family...snitches...or rips you off)

they are all about numbers and let ANY PUNK join, thats why its all fucked up

as young as 12?

that gets you busted

stupid

Just like some people HAVE to sell drugs to make ends meet. My brother was kind enough to take me in when I was 14, for reason I wish not to share. He quit school to get a job and take care of us, he sold to make ends meet, not have a big pile of cash. You do what you have to sometimes. Life is just that way.

That being said, yes you always have choices. I just don't see how you justify your living with a drugdealer is ok, but the boys out of the street slanging is in your mind wrong, it doesn't make sense. Either its right or wrong, chose one.

When Jarod and I first started to date we had a HUGE debate about gangs, and gang life. It's really easy for some one to judge from the outside. These boys are people too. My brothers "boys" became family, they made sure I got up for school in the morning, that no one fucked with me, and that I had food and a roof over my head.

Most of them had no families, or if they did it was an abusive/broken home sort of situation. There for they had NO boundries set for them, no one who cared if they were in by 9pm, who they were hanging out with, where they were going.

This is the fault of the PARENT, and no one else. Until people step up and take responsiblity for raising their children properly, nothing is going to change. Period.

Edited to say: Just because someone actions are wrong and bad, doesnt' mean that the person is.

theres a stupid gang in sterling heights. sk9 was just skaters, but they all started selling drugs later on. its sad what aspirations people have when they look at the gang life as a good thing. the thug fashion has sold it to them for a few rappers to get rich

What I hate is that this country supports and encourages laziness, especially with young kids now. Personally I think for instance the types of parents that let thier kids sit and shovel food into their faces until their obese should be charged with child abuse. Butttt...it's a "touchy subject" in this country. I think if your kid is failing out of school before age 16 or tardy/truant all the time parents should have them taken away. Or parents that rush out and buy their kid the newest fashion line, cell phone, game shit, whatever. Those kids get into the real world as adults, are USED to getting anything they want, and then BOOM they're $10,000 in debt, being foreclosed on and putting a strain on the economy.

People don't give a shit about raising kids now, and then those spoiled kids become adults and can't cope. It's not the kids' fault, it's always the parents', imo. America needs to start standing up to these parents, parenting should never be a personal/individual issue, it should be a societal issue because how people raise their kids has the ability to piss off the rest of us. Parents should be given fines and punishments for each infraction, up to having their kids taken from them.

Like I said though, that's just imo.

I don't think I could live in the world you envision.

While I agree with a lot of this.... I think the idea of personal responsibility is important here. Especially when kids are that age.

thats social deevolution. our parents lived such a good life they wanted us to live a good life. and we learned from them life how to live good. but our parents learned from there parents what hard work was. im sure everyone has a grandma or grandpa story of bravery. of hard ass work when they where growing up and working to a better life. our parents learned from them, BUT reaped a reward to great . and everyone learns not from what there parents teach in words, but how they act. how they live. that i think plays part of the role in some families. others not so much.

marketing has played another role in this.

Up in Alpena there's a "gang" the Regulators, which I just roll my eyes at them since I kicked the ass of one of them. It's a bunch of middle class white boys who've had everything handed to them.

IMO "gangster" rap needs to be outlawed, because that just makes that type of life seem more glamorus. Parents also need to be more involved in their kids lives. You can't bring a child into this world and then just let them fend for themselves without providing a little guidance.

I blame this on the parents and society and the economy. Now days it takes both parents to make ends meet to be able to live a decent life. With both parents working full time its hard to have a family life and juggle everything. There is a lack of attention and guidance and nurturing in alot of homes. The parents aren't around to keep an eye on their child and to discipline them and when they are home they are tired and I know alot of parents that don't want to spend the little time they have with their kids riding them and getting on their case.

Kids don't get the attention they need and find it elsewhere whether it be in gangs or acting up at school or becoming a womanizer.

Parents with money try to make up for the lack of time spent with their children and think if they give them everything they want then that will make up for the absence and attention they don't have time to give.

Its really sad. Alot of people aren't even fit to be parents and have no idea how to even raise a child. They can barely take care of them selves let alone a baby.
