Guest greyhalo Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 So, the movie version of "Choke" will be released here this coming weekend. They did a decent job with making a movie version of "Fight Club." But, will the movie version of "Choke" really do justice to the book? I don't know if any movie can be as deranged or funny as Mr. Palahniuk's books...
Slept with ghost Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Its been so long since I read choke that I wouldn't be able to pick out any differences between the movie and the book. I'm not going to view that as a bad thing.
jammers Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 My man really wants to see this but as its looking between work and the kid this will be very hard to do until sometime in Nov. so hopefully it hangs around long enough
amalthea23 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I'm going to see this tonight, but from the trailers, I'm getting a vibe that's very different from the book. I suppose I'll see though...
Guest greyhalo Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I want to see it, but I won't be going this weekend. So, I'll be curious to read anyone's reviews if they see it before me.
Mouf Breathah Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 So I missed it, but, did anybody else get to see this? How was it?
Burrich1 Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I made a point of seeing it when it came out. It was worth the price of admission IMO. I haven’t read the book, as I have found my to read list has been continuously growing, and my free time to read has been shrinking at an inverse proportional rate, but going into it with "fight club" setting the bar, I'd say it preformed well.

I never made it out to see this. I was somewhat ambivalent about it because I like the book so much. But, it's nice to see a decent review of it on the board. I have to admit that I LOVE Palahniuk's earlier work. I haven't cared for his past couple of novels, "Rant" and "Snuff" though. I'll be the first to admit that he's a one-trick-pony, but his trick used to be good, whereas now it's worn thin.
