Been there and done it.

My then "SO" and I lived for 6 months in the Pere Marquette forest, just backpacking and tenting it. The idea doesn't scare me a bit. As long as you know where to find seasonal wild foods, find a good place to set up camp, find or purify clean water for drinking, hunt, fish, chop and split wood, and build shelter using natural materials, it's a walk in the park. I much prefer that way of living to where I'm at, now. If I didn't have animals, I would be living outta sight and gone "ghost" again, by now..

My dad is actually trying to set up the house so it can be off the grid. He put in geothermal stuff as well as a windmill with generator. They live on 180 acers of land so they can have lots of gardens and farm animals. Which is why if shit hits the fan I go north and become a farmer.

Many of us may not have a choice in the coming months.

Lemme know if you wanna go, I'll join ya! Or, if I'm going, I'll let you know; sounds like you know your way around a campfire.
