jynxxxedangel Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Could the book you are looking for be titled Dragonology? That is an interesting book that also has a calender and some other things you can get. It comes across in a scientific manner. Nope, it was not this book, either. The book I once had, had something to do with a scientific expedition which was traveling by airship or balloon. As the ship was flying over this particular island, they were attacked by dragons-- and forced to make an emergency landing. The overall style of sketches, diagrams, and text puts me in mind of the team of Wil Huygen and Peter Poortvliet, but I'm quite certain neither of these men had anything to do with the book in question.

n0Mad Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Common legends are fascinating. A woman I know who's been into vampires her whole life and read every book she could on the topic told me that every language throughout the world has a word for "vampire". Interesting. Another common legend is that of a world-wide flood and a man who built an ark/boat/chest/canoe/etc. and loaded it with his family and a bunch of animals. According to Joseph Campbell, there is only one myth - the mono-myth. Everything is just a variation of the same myth and there's only one hero, with a thousand faces.
Head Wreck Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Vampires and Werewolves are strangely Void in Welsh Mythology and language

I remember when I was taking literature classes that there are something like only ten themes for stories, unrequited love, good versus evil, that sort of thing. Ten. And every story follows at least one these themes. And the plot thickens...
