Those crazy tinfoil hat wearing Kool-Aid drinkers at CNN are at it again...

Everything is under control, citizen.

Wait just one fucking minute! Using military to "put down a major political protest"!?!?!?!? Aren't we allowed to protest!?

Posted

You don't understand. They're here to help us. The military would never fire on innocent American citizens. How absurd. What are you, some kind of traitor? Yep. Sounds like treasonous talk to me.

It's not treason to love your country and the ideals it's founded on. It's not treason to speak, with your own voice and in a peacable manner, against tyranny. Protestors help the country, there's NO NEED for military force against people who stand up for their rights.

While I appreciate sarcasm, I feel that that kind of statement could be dangerous with all the new "intelligence gathering" going on. Maybe I'm just a little paranoid, then again, I'm not in prison.

OK, I read the article twice and somehow I am missing the part where it says "to put down a political protest". Can you please point that part out for me?

its all part of the "new world order" <evil sound effects implied>

Yeah. They're going to "help".

actually it's about stoping the new world order. Som budies of mine informed me of what happens when you check yes on the box next to the question " will you fire on American citizens if ordered" when you finish boot camp. They tell you a bunch of stuff other recruits don't here.

they started asking that after the election in 04.

i don't even want to go into detail about what happened in Wayne MI then. but it involved me and crowd of 60 younger potential voters turned away telling a large man fingerin out people to be turned away from the poles that the second amendmant was not intended for hunting, and a few cops from another city dispersing the crowd. add an interview with MTV that never aired and you got more awnsers then you'd like

Yeah. They're going to "help".

so your telling me there going to "keep the streets safe"

The U.S. military "is not a Swiss Army knife," ready to fight the Taliban one week, respond to a hurricane the next and put down a major political protest the third week, Healy said.

Yeah, safe from free thinkers and other people who crave life, liberty, and happiness.

Right. Because the police need help.

Wait. They do.

Oh never mind.. They just need to take less donut breaks.

There have been 20 homicides throughout the city this year -- eight since August -- surpassing the city's 2007 total of 17.

The increased violence is caused in part by cuts to the city's Police Department, officials say.

Only 65 officers protect the city of 66,000 residents, down from 170 officers four years ago, when the population was roughly the same.

I don't know if the facts jibe in my head...not completely anyhow...

People being violent fuck heads seems like the crux of the problem...but since they don't have any babysitters they can act out on it...

Tis' sad when Americans show that they NEED to have baby sitters...

The worsening economy is probably not helping.

Please explain...(you know I am still trying to learn economy) :p

It's really more of a sociology issue rather than an economic one.

Bad economy generally means that the value of the dollar drops and/or there's less money to go around. This tends to engender feelings of anger and fear, especially at the lower income levels. Whether it's a violent asshole who beats his wife to death instead of just hospitalizing her, or an increase in violent muggings, it makes sense that there will be more violent crimes and/or violent crimes will be more violent.

Does that make sense?

To an extent...but it does not explain much...

...but I have a hard time equating how having plenty of money is going to raise peoples moral standing...

..I can see it removing a bit of stress..but I don't see how it will displace enough stress to make people be civil...

I'm thinking I'm going to be moving to AZ, soon! Can't wait! I friggin' love it here! The heat doesn't bother me at all and the best part? NO SNOW!!! (S.N.O.W. - Shit  No One Wants)   Been staying in Bullhead City where the kids and grandkids live. Next, we're going to the wife's cousin's which is a ways North of Kingman, in the middle of nowhere, where we actually plan to move.   I really like Bullhead. It's a nice little town. Not overcrowded like Colorado Springs has become, at all. Very light traffic, reasonable prices on everything, low taxes, etc. The river offers a lot to do, with a lot of beaches and campgrounds all around it.   But yeah even though we've been over 110º-115º F just about every day,  I can handle it!  What I can't handle anymore, is snow and being cold. Just tired of it. Give me the desert over a blizzard any day!

Nope, we wasn't doing anything. I didn't want to go by myself.  I ended up doing karaoke here. It would of been a perfect day to go, though.
