Simon Bar Sinister Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 anyone else get this from people? friends/acquaintances/random strangers? apparently, I'm a magnet for it.
TitsMcGee Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Yah see the middle icon of my signature, I had that on a t-shirt just for those occasions. People don't pray for me anymore, and if they do they don't tell me about it.
cptdeath Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 yeah my cousin is in this cult (theres a thread about it). my uncle and the rest of his family sit in a gerage twice a week with their leader and a projector and sing 10 minute prayers about how I'm a goddless anti-christ who need saving just before the wemon break out in tears. I know I was there at least twice. It goes on behind closed doors and they don't talk about it with outsiders but you know by the way they act when you walk into a room. but yeah, the general "I'll pray for you" is usually unnerving for me. I get offended but don't show it usually. keep your faith to yourself dude put it away so i don't have to smell it, or taste it in the air around you. sometimes i respect it more if the context is right or the motivation behind it is sincere in a way. like when i met this guy who hated hand shakes and said it was the most disshonest fake gesture ever, till i reminded him i just shoke his hand in a sincere and honest manor and it compleatly changed his oppinion in that not all hand shakes are dishonest. so it is the same with this gesture. but my prejeduce is usually justified, and i know well enough in that rare case when i'm not to be offended. and it is rare.
sass_in_the_pants Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I pray for people all the time. I only let them know about it though, if it seems like that would help. If it makes a difference, Spammer, I've never prayed for you

LadyKay Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 anyone else get this from people? friends/acquaintances/random strangers? apparently, I'm a magnet for it. Could they mean it in a kind way? Sometimes when people just don't know the right thing to say is they simply say "I am praying for you?" Regardless what your personal believes are I think that this phrase is meant to let you know that they care for you. But maybe they just don't know what else to say or to do for you. I don't think it is meant to offend. Just a thought.

I don't think it is meant to offend. Just a thought. If someone is suffering, I pray for them. If someone is living in fear or desperation, I pray for them. If someone is struggling with whatever cross it is they have to bear, I pray for them. If someone has no bacon, I pray for them. :w00t: Do I pray because I think you're going to hell? Pffft...how would I know where you're going?
Miranda Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I get that once in a while and I don't have a problem with it. I do my own type of spiritual thinking and sending of vibes to those whom I feel need it. I don't need to tell them, you just do what needs to be done. Positive or negative, nature takes care of it's course.
LadyKay Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Anyone who wants to pray for me feel free to do so.
Homicidalheathen Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 yes, i uaually politely thank them and walk away if they get pushy i say i will likewise pray for them that their dillusion be lifted
