pixiefae Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 So I have an opportunity to move to either Huntington Beach, California and learn the family business. My uncle is coming into town the first weekend of June and he wants an answer. (The business is similar to Noir.) I'm not sure what I want to do. Anyone have any advice?
LadyWindstone Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 I'd take the opportunity to learn that business.

Nienna Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 It sounds like an excellent opportunity. It's not like you can't come back if it dosn't work out. You'll never know unless you try!
Sybil Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 i would love to live in Cali.... do you want to run the business?

pixiefae Posted May 13, 2005 Author Posted May 13, 2005 i would love to live in Cali.... do you want to run the business? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, the thing of it is, my uncle has no children, he's a multi-millionaire, and the business (along with all of his other stuff) will be 50 percent mine and 50 percent my sister's upon his demise. (It's a good thing that we get along.) She's considering moving out there after August. I guess if she decides to do that, the move can wait for me. I don't mind learning the biz, I personally just am not fond of California. Perhaps I'll be able to co-manage it from here while she is there.
Scary Guy Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Multi-millionare you say? You could take some of that and open up another branch out this way (though Keith might kill me for saying that heh). My best friend Todd is the heir to a plumbing supply throne. So he's basically set for life.l Being set for life isn't necessarily a bad thing and the world will always be in need of goth/industrialleather/bondage/sex shops, at least IMO. In any case good luck with it.
revoltedhorror Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Only you know what you really want. But personally, I'd learn the business.
TomCat Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Only you can make that decision. But you know you have my support regardless of which way you'd go. But, if you left, I'd miss ya, on a personal note. :tear
lullaby1031 Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Moving far away like that is a big step. Learning the buisness would be cool though! When I moved away twice like that, it was hard to get over being homesick - I still get it every now and then when I think about all the fun stuff and people i'm missing... But if it's worth it to you in the long run - go for it! You'll never know whats to come of it if you missed out and then you might be kicking yourself later!
